Playing Tribute while queued

It seems that once you start a game of tribute, you're completely cut off from the rest of the game? I was queued for a dungeon but there was no way that I could check the status of the queue, and am wondering if ready checks (ie you're at the front of the queue) come through at all? The only option seems to be to forfeit the game, which I did so I didn't risk missing the ready check. It would be nice to be able to play (I'm just levelling up the char in tribute) while waiting for a queue. I would happily just forfeit in order to then join the group. Does anyone know?
