I think players who act as tank or heal in open world situations don't get sufficient in game rewards. Consider the loot from world bosses. Tanks and heals won't do much damage so in a situation where there are many players in most cases the tank or the heal will go without loot as the loot is ONLY by damage ranking and if you are too low you will go without reward.

This is imho very bad and should be removed. I think it absolutely feasible that one can have different rankings depending on damage dealt or heal or taunt uptime. Each player is ranked within these three categories but only your best position of these three lists counts for the loot.

So bystanders will NOT be rewarded but tanks and heals are not penalized as of now

    That's a thing?

Thought you just needed to tag an enemy to get anything from it.

I’ve heard that at dolmens and their corresponding Summerset version (fountains or something?) only give loot to the top 12 damage dealers, but that’s all I’ve ever heard about people participating in bringing something down not getting loot. Is this what you’re talking about?

This is mostly an issue with World Bosses during events.

Normally, a lootable boss will only offer loot to players who meet two requirements: 1) do some percentage of damage (I think it's 3%) and 2) be one of the top 12 people damaging the boss. These were added to prevent people from just afk'ing at a boss and getting a reward for other people doing the work.

Of course, during events when people are farming bosses, that means that many people are unable to get loot. And yes, it seems unfair to support roles - I know, I play a tank. However, the only times this is an issue is when there's an event on, and most events are such that farming nodes gets boxes just as well as standing in one place for 5 minutes until the boss comes back up.

World events will not have this rule, so tagging it will usually get you the world event loot. But for those which have a separate boss loot (like geysers or Dolmens), the boss has the 12-person limit.

    For the most part, yes.

In some cases, where there's large numbers of players, you need to do more to get loot rights.

I'm not sure on the specifics though.

    On topic:

I've personally never had an issue with obtaining loot as a Tank or Healer (Or both, simultaneously) during WB's (Playing solo to boot).

Dolmens, sure, but outside of an event like the Witch's Festival where the boss dropped an event thing it's like whatever and I'll still be able to grab my Dolmen chest since my participation in the overall Dolmen counts.

If there are less than 12 people present and you manage enough damage to jump over the minimum damage threshold, then it is not an issue.

However, you need one strong dps who monopolizes the damage and two or three decent dps and as tank you will leave the fight with empty pockets.

I think my suggestion is feasible by measuring key activities for the three roles:
    - damage as representation of the dps' contribution
    - heal output as representation of the heal's contribution
    - taunt uptime as representation of the tank's contribution

tanks should be on top when comparing all participating players with respect to taunt upkeep, heals in the category of heal output and damage is the area of dps. And you can only validate for one list. Each player's best position within these three categories will be used to check if the player validates for a loot.

    For instance:
A player has good taunt output and compared to the taunt output of all other players he comes on fifth place but he is only 10th place in heal and 17th place in damage. So he will recieve loot like today a player gets when being on fifth place.

If in the fight there is a heal who is on 10th place in the heal category but at places 16 and 17 for taunt and damage he will receive loot for a player today being on position 10.

If a dps within the same fight is positioned 16th in damage and worse in heal or taunt he will recieve nothing like today.

Coding such a system seems like quite a bit of work for relatively minimal gains to me though. Wouldn't it be better if ZOS just removed the 12 person cap and the apparent minimum damage threshold altogether? So that everyone that participates in a fight will always get the loot?

Perhaps loot to the top 12 dd's and the top three healers and top three tanks as well?

As a healer I often miss loot from WBs during crowded events but, on the other hand, there are plenty of times I get loot from normal fights just from having someone I'm healing doing damage. Tanks, on the other hand, really deserve any boost in loot we can manage for them because tanks are awesome. :)
