I wish the armory would name the set I'm missing rather than just to display it's missing.

Pretty much the title. I'm finding myself in a situation where I want to reapply a saved build I haven't used in a while and I cannot remember which set pieces I used for it.
Sadly the save in my armory won't tell, all it does is informing me that some set is missing from my inventory.

Thanks, I noticed. Would like to reconstruct it if you'd just tell me which one it is, Grasharog...

Can't you just equip the saved build?

Nope, because if the unnamed set is not in your inventory, it won't be applied (The set pieces, that is). That's the fun of it.
Stored your sets somewhere else? Perhaps even deconstructed them to regain transmutes and build something else?

Heck, the amory ain't gonna remember which ones you used.

Do you have a screenshot of what you mean?

When I tested it, I put a piece of my set into the bank. The armory still told me in the build info what is supposed to be there. But, when I equipped it did not equip the piece that wasn't in my inventory. Also there's a little symbol by it if it's used on armory build.

Perhaps you destroyed it? I wonder if it changes thing if one is destroyed

Edit: Just tested it. Yes, that's the issue. You've destroyed it somehow, broken down for parts, or whatever. When you attempt to destroy a piece of gear that was part of a build in your armory, it displays a warning that destroying an item that is your build will also delete it from all builds in the armory. You have to confirm that's what you want to do. If you just placed it in the bank or a box, the armory will still tell you what piece is supposed to be there.

Yeah I figured out by now that I don't own the set piece anymore. But that's no longer an issue, thanks to transmutation.

What I don't understand is why you would let the armory or armorer delete the information about saved set?
I pay 1.500 crowns to save an additional build but that 13€ slot can't hold the information unless I waste inventory space?

    WHY?

It’s not limited to destroying it.

If you put the piece on another character, that information is not loaded by the game. The armory will just say it can’t be found. Not even what it is.

Yeah, it could least show what one previous build was.

If you post the build maybe someone can figure out it what is that might be missing?

Didn't realize that. Thanks for the info!

I posted this as what I wanted in the quality of life thread. Some of my characters share gear so I keep it in the housing chests. Right now I have to basically take a few sets of gear out of the chest, load the armory build then put all the armor not equipped back into the box.
If I get in a hurry and don't put gear back after I'm done with a character that causes even more confusion but that is my own fault not the games.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

Armory should hold your build equipment.

That's a good idea, it would be interesting if the armory station and assistant had an option for a bank of sorts exclusive to gear, or if they'd release a new assistant that exclusively does that.

If you end up having too many sets and builds for your characters, even with ESO Plus and all the storage options it can be a struggle to manage everything with the bank slots we have.
@MorvanClaude on PC/NA, don't try to trap me with lore subjects, it will work

    @ZOS_Kevin

Is there any possibility that this basic function will ever be added to the game? It's pretty sad that this is even an issue.

I'm trying to get back into some of my old character and this makes it nearly impossible to pickup where I left off - to the point where I'm probably just going to bother.

So many unfinished/unpolished features, and or just obviously poor design decisions. It's frustrating that in 2024, things like this are so widespread in ESO. Pair that with the lack of content this year and poor gameplay/server performance... and my goodness, you guys need to do way way better in 2025.

And store the damn ting inside the armory instead of the inventory.

100% agree with this! The Armoury just needs to say what the missing piece is. Ridiculous that it doesn't. There are several PC add-ons that do this. But for something you pay for - nope we won't tell you what it is that has gone missing.

Don't forget that you're asking for the armory to record not just what set the piece was from, but the weight, level, enchantment, quality etc. all of which makes pretty much a unique item. If it was worth saving that way, you probably golded it out, transmuted to the right trait, and made it special.

The only reasonable way to do all that is a reference to the item in your inventory.

For the armory to store the item in question, it would become an extra bank. But a bank is not character-specific, so you would have builds designed for DKs in there with ones for NBs, tanks, healers and dd's all mixed together. It would take a lot of extra work to ensure the same item doesn't get used in multiple builds. That would all get nasty very quickly.
