You have ruined battlegrounds

I’m primarily a battlegrounds player and that’s pretty much all I play, this patch sucks though

I was queuing up with one friend on my team in the 4v4 and he stepped away for a minute I took the queue without thinking so I left when I got in because I didn’t wanna play without my friend, boy that was a terrible idea 15 minutes queue penalty. So we wait 15 minutes and get in a deathmatch against a 4 man that has a heal with 3 bombers basically ballgrouping with Joe blow and his cousin on our team who have 300 cp, we stick it out for two deaths apiece by which time our cp 300s have lost all their lives and left the game so we decided well back to the 15 minute queue penalty I guess, nope surprise surprise our penalty is now 30 minutes on top of which we can’t get any AP from any pvp. What have you done to this game Zos you are basically telling me you don’t want me to play anymore

You don’t have a big enough community to be giving people 30 minute queue penalties. also you have terrible match making, why should anyone who is in a group of two be put in a game against a 4 man

Another thing you need to removed rush of agony, DC, VD, plaguebreak and any other set made for bombing zergs from battlegrounds. The primary reason people leave battlegrounds is because one team stacks three bombers with a healer who play defensively until they get their ults to triple bomb one person in hopes of VDing/PBing your group members. This is not conducive to a small scale pvp environment, people should be brawling not hiding in a corner till they get their ults.

The 15-minute penalty for abandoning a BG was known. So yes, it's probably a terrible idea. I guess I do not abandon groups enough to see an increasing penalty. Interesting.

The friend going AFK was not a Zenimax issue. Then there is the random players when queueing to get random players is a normal random queue thing.

I do agree matchmaking is not very good in ESO, but the population of BG players is not that large either, which reduces the effectiveness of any matchmaking system.

@Amottica before this patch the queue penalty was 5 minutes for leaving a battleground, 15 minutes for leaving a dungeon.

Wow, I don't even play battlegrounds and I can tell that sucks!

What problem did they think they were solving with these changes? People leave because they have no chance of winning? Just like ToT shouldn't a player be able to concede? I can understand why someone wouldn't want to suffer thru the miserable experience of losing in slow motion.

Just got off of my new game to try the update with a few of my friends, played a few games of competitive, and wow.

Talk about landslide lobbies, played a solo warming up and got spawn trapped because everyone else on my team had around 20k health PvE builds, and everyone on the other team had clear PvP builds with 30k+. Then when my friends and I all grouped up we completely upset every team we ran across, after 5 games, not a single enemy team scored even a point in Crazy King, Dominion, or Deathmatch.

You can’t have competitive in a game so heavily influenced by gear and group compositions, because right now healers are unkillable, and any group with a healer just wins.

That being said, was losing the moving flags mode in 8v8 by around 200, made a play and got our group unified, started to put in work and we won by 100, definitely had a blast in the solos for 8v8.

Yeah I queued into a Group 4v4 by myself to see what it was like. That was a mistake. It was 2 players with 25k health getting farmed by a premade in comms. One player had already left. I know they were in comms because the 4v4 Deathmatch community is very small and I know all the names. I recognized their full healer and 3 dd's.

Here's the queues I'd like to see.

    Competitive Battleground 4v4 (Solo/Duo)
Competitive Deathmatch 4v4 - must have 4 player group to queue

    Standard Battleground 8v8 (Solo/Duo/Trio)
DELETE the existing Standard Group 8v8

I would go so far as to say, two should be the cap on Battleground groups, Armory stations should exist within spawn so that teams that do not have a support can have someone switch to one, and some form of private matches need to be an option for players that want to do meta comps outside of IC and Cyrodiil, let them fight each other.

At least until healing is reigned in.

Sounds like two of the issues come from abandoning a match, which has always had a penalty. I definitely remember it being a 15-minute penalty before when matches used to be bugged and never fill (with no time limit like there is now).

As far as premades, they were an issue in the old matches and they're still an issue. It's hard unless you're in a full group of 4, and even then you need to be pretty serious to do well. I wish it was easier to queue with a buddy as a duo and get a fair fun match : p

Dark Convergence got a big cooldown nerf, and I haven't died to VD procs or Rush of Agony pulls in a while (but I play in casual 3-4 person groups with a healer). I see these as "win-more" sets—they mainly work when one team has way higher damage, healing, or coordination anyway.

I've been enjoying battlegrounds a lot this patch, more than I have in years. I just wish queues were better, one-sided matches with premades were less common, and there weren't as many lobbies that make you wait 5 minutes because they can't fill the extra players. (But at least there's a timer now! Maybe they can test how long before matches statistically fail to fill and reduce the timer?)

I love the new BG’s. Harsh leaving penalties are needed, especially in ranked games.

That’s the main problem with the current design, it’s very easy to find yourself in matches where there is no hope.

Maybe with the introduction of role-queueing for PvP, that problem would be fixed, but until then an armory station in spawn would go a long way.

It will probably take time for them to sort everything out. Glad I got everything I wanted out of there before the update.

Oh, yes, this is MUCH better for new players than the old 3-team system.

Yet more proof that ZOS devs do not play ESO.

I agree that the queue times and number of players queuing seems to be an issue. But I've never abandoned a losing game since Battlegrounds launched, and I really don't want that to be encouraged for my teammates.

Nothing feels worse than being a few hundred points behind the other team and then having your teammates start to bail. That wastes my time, because now I'm playing 2v4 because someone else was feeling salty. If I can't win the match, I at least want to have a good time and some good fights.

When someone's in a negative mindset, they'll see their team behind and think it's unwinnable and give up, and I don't want that to be encouraged at all because it makes it worse for everyone.

Most recently, we had a super unbalanced match where we killed the enemy team only one time and they killed us 30 times EACH! It was really rough, but sort of funny, and our goal changed from "win" to "survive as long as possible" lol. I get some people only have time for 1 match a night and it sucks to lose, but all we can do is try to bring a positive attitude in it for everyone's benefit. Abandoning a match punishes your teammates and wastes their time.

Instead, I hope they fix the issue by improving queue times by letting us queue for multiple modes at once, and fixing the issue where some matches never fill and get ended after 5 minutes of waiting for nothing.

Do not leave the match. Granted, it still grants the penalty when someone DCs because it is not going to be able to detect a DC vs. disconnecting from the internet or using F+alt 4

Well, at least you got a 15-minute penalty for something you actually did. Today, I accepted to join a BG, got the loading screen, but then ended up loading back to where I was, completely bypassing the BG – but still got the penalty.

Strongly agreed with a few other people here.

One thing ZOS can do to improve BG would be to implement CONCEDE or SURRENDER option. Anyone within a group can initiate a vote to end the match earlier for half the rewards (usual amount for losing).

Seriously see no point in continuing a Deathmatch while the result for 1st was 0 vs 540.
