Needs To be a Vender for rare provisioning mats

mfischer303b14_ESO
There is a vender in cold harbor that sells the v5 items such as emp grapes, imperial ect ect. However there is no vender that sells pepper, oats, tomatos ect.

Well there should be! I dont mind paying 63g for the v5 items in coldharbor, getting pepper, oats , tomatos from looting sacks ect is extremely rare, im luck if i get 4 pepper in a week, that is horrible, Sell those items at a vender like the V5 please, There is little money to be made from provisioning as it is. I want to be able to make the food and drinks for my guilds.

The whole point of pepper/tomatoes is that they are extremely rare. Get the provisioning skills that let you produce more food if you want to make more.

Before you comment on such a thing Nerevarine, I have 6 toons that are level 50 provisioning, with rank 3 provisioning Hirelings. SO I know what the freaking drop rate is. I am a chef in game, and my point is if the v5 items are sold at a vender the items needed for level 35 food and drinks should be also.

You may have noticed that the equivalent level 35 food and drink items are available from any grocer in the corresponding zone. Grocers only sell items needed for the basic green recipes of their level. Salt, pepper, onions, etc. are used for blue and purple recipes. They are never sold at vendors because those recipes are meant to be rare and hard to make.

Hence the comments WHY is there a store for v5 food mats evidently your not a provisioner and have not spend days and days looting bags, baskets ect just to get 4 peppers, or go a week without getting the rare from 6 rank 3 hirelings. The pepper ect is no longer rare, its extremely rare as of last patch.

Ok, let me try again, because I think there's a disconnect.

Grocers in every zone have mats for green recipes for that level. No grocer ever carries mats for blue or purple recipes of any level. But you can loot those mats from containers and start saving them as early as level 1.

I'm a level 50 provisioner, although I dropped the skill line at VR3 because I didn't like having to jump back to Coldharbour every time I wanted to get mats. I'm very familiar with how the system works, and the mats you want to be more common are supposed to be extremely rare. They may increase the drop rate, but they are not going to let vendors sell them. Period.

I am also a level 50 cook and have looted thousands of Baskets, Containers, Barrels etc in both 1-50 and now VR Zones.
I have never received one Tomato.
It's a bit of a joke around these parts.
I think a Tomato should be worth more than Ancient Elf Motif.

Pepper and tomatoes are worth something? I've been tossing the stuff, salt as well, because I haven't found a recipe that calls for them.
  • mfischer303b14_ESO
dont forget the rare items are also alliance based, which is why i have 6 alts, 2 in each alliance
but all rares have become extremely extremely rare.

    What?

It's the opposite. Rare ingredients are exactly the same across all alliances, and they can be found in any container in any zone.

ok if you say so. ignoring the fact about pepper, oats, and tomatos the need to be in a vender which is what this thread is about. and the fact that provisioning hirelings has been nerfed big time. that fact that V5 food items for purple recipes can be bought in CH and not for any other purple under level 50 is the purpose of this post.

What are the rare food mats? I need to stop tossing them due to bank space and sell them it would seem.

I had a feeling these items were gonna be rare, so I have kept all of mine through my levels, not using them on recipes either yet.

Thank to this thread Ill keep them for a while more, if I ever get the recipes needed for them
  • Grendel3232
Some guild stores might sell them. I know this isn't a simple solution but it might get you by until your actual concern is taken care of. If you can find the right guild.

This is partially off-topic, but I want to wholeheartedly thank the OP for shining the spotlight on this aspect of provisioning! I just started provisioning on my 3rd alt. I hate filling up my bags with all the garbage you collect when you click on every stupid crate and barrel in every house you enter, almost as much as I hate having to take all that time clicking on every stupid crate and barrel.

I told myself it would all pay off in the end, and I had this level 35 purple recipe that would make it worth the trouble if I just got to that level. I had no idea that I'd only be able to make one a month, and that's only if I continue relentlessly loot every crate and barrel.

You saved me a lot of time and two heaping helpings of frustration OP! I am forever in your debt.

I hate to bring this up, but issues like this are what happens when you don't have a global auction house. As has been pointed out in this thread and from information that I've gotten from other players, people are simply deleting, selling to vendors, or not even picking up some of these items because they don't know that they're rare and don't know that there is a market for these items.

You wouldn't believe the number of people that are trashing things like salt, pepper, honeycomb, etc. because they don't know the value, don't have an easy way to check, and don't feel like trashing up their limited bag space.

They could introduce a gardening feature where you buy or farm the seeds to grow the items you need. Make gardening a mini game where you gotta water and look after your garden just like in real life. And make the time it takes to grow your crops several real life days like 3 to 5 days maybe.

Its kinda funny but I almost never see people check nodes for food items. I got cooking to lvl 50 and have a lot of good recipes so I always check everything. Something I always have done in Elder Scrolls games! :p Nice thing I have noticed is that no matter what area you look for food items it matches the the lvl of cooking you are. Still get some of the nooby stuff but not all that often like I did before when I was low lvl.

Drop the "rare" out of your header and you'll have it. There should be a provisioning vendor period.

Read other posts, please. There is a grocer in every zone, usually in the main city. They sell basic provisioning mats for the equivalent level of provisioning.

While I don't really agree with the OP on putting rare provisioning mats on a vendor somewhere (this would be akin to having a rare rune vendor or a vendor with all the upgrade crafting items on it), I do think they need to look into how often rare components are being introduced into the world...Pepper seems decent, as I can usually find 1 pepper in a 2 or 3 hours outing of adventuring, but I have never once seen a tomato. I've gotten a couple from my provisioner hirling, but that is about it.

I would like to throw a shout out for color coding provisioning mats (which would be consistent with other crafting professions) based on use in rare recipes. It would make it easier for some to decide to keep mats and maybe auction them off, making them more readily available.

Pepper, I can usually find in 1-3 out of every 100-ish crates and sacks I open, IIRC found my first one in an abandoned house or barn (/brainfart) in The Rift zone.

Finally, a post I can get on board with. I threw away so many Concord Grapes early on because I assumed they were for some other alliance's alternative wine.

lol, yeah I agree cuz I didnt even know there was tomatoes in game until I read it in the forums. Maybe tomatoes are only found in 1 faction cuz I always loot the nodes and have NEVER seen a tomato and I have never seen a recipe that needs tomatoes either. I'm in the Aldmeri Dominion. There is a quest where you go to the opposing sides leaders and ask for help to defeat Molag Bal. I ran around the closed building and checked nodes and got a strange mushroom for cooking that I never seen before and assumed it was for that faction only.

I went to the ESO provisioning sites and made a list of only the rare ingreds I was interested in. I now only keep those or what I plan on grinding with and all else gets left or tossed out. This way I have all the salt, onions, ... needed for the purple recipes when I get them.
