They vary in price. Some are (or were) available for free. Some cost only real money (crowns or a 5 dollar starter home). Some have the option to purchased using either coin or crowns. The ones that purchase with coin range in size and cost. There's the inn rooms (first one is free per character, others cost like 3k coin or something small like that). Others cost millions.

Most people don't have them all.

A new house is coming up for free by participating in the events this quarter, it's really quite nice and themed after the main story.

Housing is often said to be the true endgame activity......

Regardless of whether it is or not, it will burn through real money and virtual gold alike!!

The houses themselves vary from cheap to eyewateringly expensive but more than that decorating them can be exceedingly expensive too.

Last night I spent 600k on some trees I wanted for my current build........ six is not going to be enough!! :o

Obtaining fully leveled crafting will take 6 months if you attend to it every day. So you really should start right away with it. Same goes for mount training. It will take 6 months to get a fully trained mount on every individual toon. So you need to start these things right away if you're planning on playing ESO much....or it will be like walking from New York to Los Angeles every time you want to do something in game. Additionally, the fastest, easiest way to make money is by doing the daily crafting writs. Need a toon that is fully trained in crafting to make that work. Another good way to make gold fast is to level your thieving abilities and rob NPC's and the silver colored chests and sell those items to a special merchant in the many thieves dens.

The best solo way to earn gold in the game is through farming Tel Var, however that is also the most difficult way. You can easily make 1 mil gold a day in a few hours of farming on Xbox Na

    Well, thanks everyone.

Please forgive me but I have another question...

If we tally all the houses, how much gold/crowns will it cost me to purchase all of them and whatever upgrades they have available?

Are they purchased with both gold and crowns? Or either? Are there options to do either?

Some houses are only available for crowns, others for either crowns or gold. If you purchase with crowns, you have the option or furnished and unfurnished. If you buy with gold, most houses will have an achievement requirement (like the Ebonheart Chateau in Stonefalls, you need to have completed the Pact main quest line.)

We also got some houses as rewards for events, like the Grand Psijic Villa on Artaeum and the Witches' house in Glenumbra.

Last time I tallied this, all the houses you can buy for gold added up to about 36 or 39 million gold, I can't quite remember.

You can get a free Inn room on each of your characters by doing the quest that introduces you to housing. Those are very handy to port to new DLC zones.

    Thank you.

Are you 100% certain that it is between 36 million and 39 million gold? It doesn't have to be very exact. Just the ballpark.

    Thank you very much.

Here's the list of all available houses and their prices (as well as achievement requirements if buying for gold)
    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Player_Housing

If I didn't make any typos while adding them up, it's actually 34,165,000 gold for all the ones you can purchase that way.

The Hall of the Lunar Champion in Northern Elsweyr you get for completing the quest line there and there are some other houses on the list that are event rewards of one kind or another.
