Mora Scribe's Thesis (and its perfected version) Tooltip Potentially Incorrect.

The tooltip states that each Major buff increases your critical strike chance by 128, which translates to 0.5% critical strike chance.
  • Each 219 critical strike chance = 1%. Example: a set piece stat line giving 657 critical strike chance = 3% - 657/219 = 3.

Now that's out of the way, here is Mora Scribe's Thesis tooltip for reference:
no8tvvc7tkeg.png

Here is my critical chance with the set on and some buffs applied:
exb5t3shyllp.png
  • * You can see I have 68.4% Critical Chance (box that says 68.4 cc)

Here is my critical chance when using Deadly Cloak, which gives me Major Evasion:
1ymbmbdmkyl3.png
  • * You can see I have 69.6% Critical Chance (box that says 69.6 cc)

The 2nd image should put me to 68.9% critical chance, but instead I am at 69.6%, a 1.2% increase. Any other new Major buff increases my critical strike chance by 1.2%. So therefore each Major Buff is increasing my critical strike chance by 182.5, and not 128 as the tooltip states?

Asking clarification from @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_Kevin @ZOS_Gilliam @ZOS_BrianWheeler or anyone else if they could clarify if the set's tooltip is incorrect. The set giving more critical chance than it states (potentially) is actually pretty nice and makes it more useable and friendly than it seems.

Either I am missing something here and completely wrong, or the tooltip of the set is incorrect. The critical chance applied by the set may also be what's incorrect. I've not put this in the bugs category unless someone with a PhD in ESO combat can maybe enlighten me here.

Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.

You probably have Major Gallop on.

Was it quick cloak giving you major expedition?
Also, kindly shut up about any bugs that benefit us. They get fixed very quickly, while we deal with negative bugs for months and years.

Re-read the thread. There's a before and after image showing crit chance change after applying only 1 buff. Plus if MG was on, I am still gaining more crit than I should.

No, was deadly cloak - not the major expedition morph. I am just hoping the tooltip is wrong here :\

have you tried removing all passives, cp, and only have this 5 piece set on?

Just tested. Still giving me more crit than tooltip states.

Some major and minors count as 2 because of their old magicka/stamina counterpart.

Example: With Oakfather's (similar set) Breach counts as 2 debuffs because it used to be Breach and Fracture before hybridization.

My guess is that you might have something like Major Resolve, which would count it's old magicka counterpart (Major Ward) as well.

He used deadly cloak which only gives one buff; major evasion (not the morph that gives expedition). Major evasion never had a mag/stam difference like resolve/ward and the like.

I was in a video chat with him about this and we tested a variety of different skills and buffs, they all behaved this way.

But before Major and Minor Evasion, there was only Evasion which gave a chance to dodge attacks, so this might be the hidden buff

That could not be the case since the set only works in major/minor buff. While it was only called evasion there was no major/minor version of it thus it would not have procced the set to give x2 the amount of crit. Similar to how empower does nit add to the set.

Also does not explain why rapid maneuvers that only gives 1 major buff (gallop was already active) also gives the same crit number.

This was also tested with many other Major buffs: Major Expedition, Major Gallop, Major Resolve, Major Evasion etc. All Major buffs are all giving 1.1% critical strike chance, not 0.5%.

On that note, I am hoping it's just a tooltip error. To gain the max amount of critical chance bonus via major buffs from this set is unreasonable if the tooltip is correct.

Yes the sets works with Major/minor buffs but what's in the code is sometimes very different. Old Evasion might be flagged as a Major buff for all we know. Maybe even Old Empower creates the same issue.

We’re both making alot of assumptions here considering that neither of us know what goes on under the hood. If what you describe is the case then every single skill we tried had a ”hidden buff” attached to it which does not sound impossible, just unlikely. To me it’s much more likely that ZoS may just have messed up the numbers somewhere rather than every buff having a hidden component which double procs the set.
Major evasion is not an outlier in this case, every buff we tried gave double the value they were supposed to.

The set does not interact with empower at all when i tested it.
