Many people have mentioned how few the item slot limit on larger homes is and how they do not have enough space and must close off parts of a home, perhaps this idea could help, it is Inspired by Skyrim's Hearthfire DLC.

Would you like to see something involving pre-built instanced rooms you could place? similar to the Hearthfire system in TES:V, these would be instanced rooms that take up a single slot that can cover basic house functions such as a crafting room enterable through a door you can place within your existing home, this would mean you would not need to add crafting area to your home if you had one of these and it would save you a significant amount of item slots you would of initially used for a crafting room for other purposes, however you would not beable to place or remove any items from the instanced rooms.

It could also extend beyond a crafting room to add things such as a basic kitchen which would contain kitchen related decor as well as a provisioning station or a training room which could contain an assortment of low-end target dummies as well as appropriate decor.

This could help for some of the houses or builds that are not open space - at least if the item limit is really due to performance issues.

My guess is however that the limit is also - at least partially - motivated by a desire to keep storage space limited. For each item you need to store 7 data minimum: item id, 3 positions, 3 orientations. To this is added optionally items linked to that item. A creation of additional instances will not change that I fear.

But I agree: Specifically for larger homes the limit of 700 is far far too low.

For all intents and purposes, the crafting stations within the instanced room would not be furniture, it would be more like the inbuilt forge in Forgemaster's Falls and the new Dwarven house in Blackreach, just various parts of the room you could interact with.
