I do have a map in my bank but it would be weird if that was the cause. I did delete it and then the game lagged out so I don't know if it got bugged or not in my inventory since I don't have one in my inventory now either. I was able to withdraw from my bank so don't know why that occurred. I'm sorry to anyone who looted that chest and only found a map.
If you already had it, but were willing to destroy it to take the new one, why not just leave it for the next person?
Yes, I know some people object to this, but it seems like a valid reason.

This is normal behavior in gamepad mode. It's only in keyboard mode that you can double up between the bank and your character's inventory.
