I just stumbled on this house for the first time as I rode out to the countryside in pursuit of Ayleid trinkets for the event. And I swoooooooned at the sight of it! Basegame Imperial style! I adore it and wish we had more homes in this style (looking at you, Benirus Manor as the bank of Anvil instead of a player home...).
But... The beautiful balcony that circles the whole domed structure... Cannot be entered. The grand, tall interior could really do with a second floor, and I would be all for building it myself – if I could just punch a hole in a wall and fit it with a door to the balcony.
(A second entrance on the ground floor would also make a lot of sense, it being a big round building with yard all around it.)
I'm not usually one for criticising a house's layout too harshly; my best and most entertaining building experiences have come from getting to work and building those things I wished were in a house, figuring out ways of circumnavigating whatever limitations the space has. But this does feel
very limiting, and rather like a missed opportunity. A gorgeous house in a style we don't see enough of... with only a single door in or out.
The inaccessible towers and balconies present in basegame houses have always annoyed me, and I've been glad not to see them in newer houses. Now with this one, it seems this sad trend is back. This could be a house with a lot of interesting building options: open layout inside, open space on all sides outside. And it's so pretty, and comes with the lovely soundtrack of the zone. If there's any way to still add balcony access and even extra entrances to this house before it's sold, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would appreciate it.
(For anyone who has not seen the house and is wondering what I am rambling about, you can preview it in the far east of the West Weald zone, east of the Gray's Hollow point of interest. It cannot be bought yet and I do not know how much it will cost. It will not show up on your map until you have walked up to it via the entrance from the West Weald once.)
