tbh, calculations on serverside makes sense, and should have been done from the beginning. Clientside calculations have always been prone to hacking, and exploits.

1) Happened rapidly, meaning spaghetticode entanglements
2) Contradicted/heavily modified the original server-client 'weight of calculation' divide with the server doing a lot of lifting that wasn't intended in the original combat vision
3) these facts have made it difficult to "undo" the change - U35 showed an example of trying to disentangle the spaghetti noodles...
I think the combat design (and original on-release architecture) was intended to push most of the initial calculation/lift to the client's computer, and when that original design was updated to be pulled serverside, it was done while the game was live, and done rapidly. I hope everyone can see the impact of such...
I mean.... what good is a game with no hackers if it means you can't even fire your abilities though. I had multiple fights in BGs last night where I seriously could not attack back, just had to stand there and die.ragnarok6644b14_ESO wrote: »tbh, calculations on serverside makes sense, and should have been done from the beginning. That's fair, but that's how you get either nerfed/less interesting combat (calculations can't be too intense) or bad performance.
*shrug* hackers/exploiters ruin games, what else is new. You're not wrong.
