Inquiry from other solo players: Good and Fun sets to run on Templar?

I used to run this class a lot solo before the jabs were nerfed. Ever since then, I cant seem to find a good set to run to solo hard things besides Deadly. Any recommendation? No trail set is a plus, I want to have fun with the class.

Making a game fun should be a priority. Making a game balanced should not come at the expense of fun.

For no trial set I'd run Overwhelming Surge or Order's Wrath.
PC EU: Magblade (PvP main), DK (PvE Tank), Sorc (PvP and PvE), Magden (PvE Healer), Magplar (PvP and PvE DD), Arcanist (PvE DD)
PC NA: Magblade (PvP and PvE every role)

You could farm the new Class Set from the Infinite Archive. While it isn't meta, it's a fun set for a Templar.

Or you could craft/ buy Threads of War. It doesn't have a cool looking proc or anything, but it's a pretty good set. It's what I use along with Deadly on my solo Magplar at the moment.

    I love my ShieldPlar.
Hexos' Ward, Prayer Shawl and either Iceheart or Mother Ciannat.
You can have up to six shields active at the same time. Totally crazy.
This is the best defense/offense balance on a Templar I have been able to find.

    Edit: Wrong Set. 🙈

Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.

Order's Wrath, Deadly, Slimecraw(one piece), Oakensoul and Bastian(or companion of your choice)

I solo loads of stuff with this set up and have a lot of fun, it's really easy to get too, at this point Bastian is part of this build as it's a bit squishy and he tanks stuff for me.

Btw I still use jabs because it's still wonderful for creating piles of bodies! 😂
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

Order's Wrath and Deadly strikes is a really solid combo. If you find you have enough damage but not enough survivability, switch out deadly for hexos ward. My solo magicka templar runs Deadly and Order with two 1 pc armor monster pieces, health enchanted chest, head, shoulder.

Since Jbeam is the only thing we’re really good for these days, I’ve fully leaned into it with Kvatch Gladiator and Deadly. It’s really funny to see mobs and bosses go poof when they’re in execute range. It’s tough to get them into execute range sometimes when you’re soloing harder content, but very satisfying to see the health bar moving rapidly once you’re there — almost like you’re playing an actually competent DPS class, rather than a Templar.

    i normally pair Deadly with Hexos Ward plus Pale Order ring - this allows to breeze first 2 Arcs in the Infinite Archive solo;
and it is faster to restart and re-do first two Arcs, rather then continuing further (for that i replace deadly with warrior poet)

Why sanctuary? Even dedicated healers have not used the set in a long time. It seems like your build would benefit more from blind induction, which would increase the strength of your own shields, and if you are supplying healing for your group, it increases the strength of your heals if they are further away from you. Seems like it could be a good fit?

I'd also throw in there Brands of the Imperium, which gives you a large shield just for being hit by an attack.

I played around with Kvatch Gladiator, but TBH, I don't really notice a difference with the set because beam starts to get its big bonus after 50%, and Kvatch doesn't kick in until 25%. Of course, I was trying it in PVP and not PVE, and in that situation, the opponent was going to be an instakill if they are under 30% anyways. I did play around with using Sheer Venom with the beam, and that was actually pretty fun.

Yeah, I don’t like Kvatch Gladiator in PVP either — not even for lazy zerg surfing. If you’re beaming a player at 25% health, you’re still stealing the kill from the player that actually bursted them down to 25% whether you have Kvatch Gladiator equipped or not. I do find it an amusing set to use in PVE, though.

If you wanna make the class skills feel a bit more impactful I like innate Axiom. Doesn't get much love, but for me it gets the job done.

Use the new templar set xD. I mean, it SOUNDS fun so it MUST be fun, right? Could be really fun for OW despite the weaker values, etc.

Do Combat Physician over Prayer Shawl. The Crit will be better for your damage and synergize better with Iceheart.

Master 2h + brawler, more enemies means more damage and shields. Something like old jabs, with sustain race (you shouldn't use sustain sets) you can spam it easily, it does decent damage even against single enemies

No, I will not. Prayer Shawl is just too good in intense and high damage fights. The 2s cooldown is preferable to a teeny tiny bit more damage.

The size of the shields is similar, Shawl is only 600 ahead or so on paper. But Shawl also procs 3-4 times when Physician procs only once. That 6s cooldown can be a real bummer. And besides, the line of spell damage on Shawl also synergises better with the classes passives than the two crit lines do.

Believe me, I have been through this several times.

I can tell you what set is NOT fun to run — Aetheric Lancer. What a waste of time grinding that one out…

I knew going into it that I’d have to pick up the spear proc; what I didn’t know is that it drops in such random places around the enemy. It’s annoying in PVE, and you can forget about it as a solo PVPer. I know some PVPers are using it, but honestly, if I’m personally going to use a proc set, I don’t want to have to micromanage it by hunting it down during the heat of battle.

Back to playing rangeplar and mainly playing other classes in PVP…

LOL, I just saw your comment in another thread. Its a shame, the set sounds cool on paper

Yeah. Don't let me dissuade you from trying it out -- it may work for you. But IMO, there are just too many silly hurdles you have to jump over to proc the damage. Not only do you have to deal damage with Burning Light twice in 30 seconds, you also then have to locate the tiny little AOE spawn in the middle of all the other combat particle effects, physically move over to it, stand in it, and use an Aedric Spear ability to proc it. It should proc automatically when you meet the first condition, for crying out loud... There are much less cumbersome ways to gain 300 WD/SD and deal damage with a proc set. When you compare Aetheric Lancer to most of the other new class sets, all you can do is shake your head.

Order's wrath plus Tarnished Nightmare is lots of fun and works in both PvP and PvE. IN PvE, you can pair Macabre Vintage with Tarnished Nightmare for a lot of damage especially to groups of trash mobs
2 GOs, an overlord and bunches of prefects etc-- all classes...I've wasted a lot of time in PVP

I don't run hard stuff, but I do have a recommendation you can try: Single Bar Templar.

There are builds you can find online. When I followed those builds exactly, I was surprised just how strong I felt even with my lesser gear. (I've switched things around since then to suit my own play style)

It might be fun to do something out of the ordinary.

I can see this being good given the lightning staff changes. I prefer 2 bar, but nice suggestion :)
