So hey everyone, gotta probably getting heat for asking this :)

So ingame there is lorebooks, so far so good, yeah they are great.
At the forums, people talk about keeping the lore in the game

so hmmm, what is Lore B)

Im not English, so maybe thats the reason, I dont know the word, but as a veteran lvl6 now, I felt it was time for me to actually learn it ;)

pls be gentle :D

i believe it is essentially the history of the world. people want to see it consistent with all the other elderscrolls games.

A good academic definition of lore in general can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oral_tradition

in the context you're referring to it means all the background stories which Besthesda have written of the history of the world of Tamriel, it's inhabitants, Gods, societies, etc.

Since ESO is set long before the game of Morrowind then the stories of the last 3 TES games also apply since they preclude ESO having aspects which the later 'lore' says can't happen or never mentioned.

So, for one example, the 'lore' as written by Bethesda says that the dwarf race died out centuries before this game so there can never be a dwarf in the game; that would be 'lore breaking'.

"Lore" is shorthand for players to refer to what has been established in the fictional history/rules of the world. So in the Elder Scrolls series, lore includes the name of the world (Nirn), the name of the continent we're on (Tamriel), Aedric/Daedric forces, etc. etc. It also explains how magic functions, how interracial marriages work and all the other science-esque rules that go into creating a persistent fantasy world.

oh so, that means the stories of the game has to be really thought out, so what ever has been said, can not be undone, like with the dwarfs example.

I totally understand the reason behind that, the gamemakers surely have a more pressure behind bringing stories to the game, having to think about that for every story they bring, may make them lose out on example bringing drawfs to the game.

Nice, thx to all that comment, makes more sense to me now, when reading up on people dont want to break lore of the game.
