How are everyone leveling their horses. What would be a good build for PVP. Would long range be better or a sprinter, Hybrids?

Max speed because you can sprint even when you are out of stamina.
Actually it would be faster in long run even if you couldn't sprint without stamina.

Yeah you can sprint forever, but it seems you lose a lil bit of speed when you actually run out of stam. That could just be me and my perception, but meh. I went, so far, 26% speed and 24% stam.

Speed makes your horse a lot faster and stamina is really only useful if you need to take hits and keep on riding. Since you're usually riding a horse to the front and immediately dismounting, speed would seem to be the best bet.

I have two horses. 1 horse for pvp that has full speed and a little stam.
my 2nd horse is full capacity for pve.

So what is the fastest horse, although i'm guessing it's the most expensive one, HOPE it's not the Palomino

The one i have that i think its the fastest, is the brown one. Yes thats alot of info but i forgot what its called >.<. it costs me quite a bit though. starts with 25% speed i want to say.

I'm patient and think more in terms of months of play rather than days, so I'm simply building all three evenly until they are all maxed. I think I'm at 25% Speed, 24 Stam, 25 Capacity at this point. I'll just keep putting in points to all three until I can't anymore lol.

Well The max amount of points you can put in your horse is 50. Max level for the horses are 50.

Oh, actually I think 20 stamina, once I hit 20 it seemed I could get away from one or two attacks and not get dismounted, so I have been biasing the other two, though will keep growing all three to the top, eventually.

The light horse starts with 25% speed so it's the fastest after being upgraded 49 times (the max level for every horse). It costs 42k I believe.

yeah common misconception of the horse system is that you can max the horse out over time. That's not true, you get 49 points to upgrade the horse total. This is why there are multiple horses, since different breeds are good for different things. You have your pack mule, your warhorse and your travelling horse.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

Oh man, just realized ive been just investing in my imperial horse for bag space, is there a better horse for that?

What happens if you have a horse you've been adding capacity to, and you fill your inventory up, then you switch to a horse that doesn't have that capacity? What happens to the stuff in the slots that came from the previous horse?

well i have a speed horse, at 50 speed. then i am leveling a jack of all trades horse, mainly for the appearence, you see if you get over 20 in any stat on a horse, its saddle changes, i know speed gives belts and buckles, carry gives bags, not sure what stamina gives but ill know in a week or so

The draft horse starts with 10 bag slots, so its the best in the end.

My guess is it wont let you switch until you free space

It would be nice if they add a way to respec your horse for people that accidentally feed incorrectly or just want different stats after realizing stamina is useless. Im putting all my stats into speed, but I accidentally put 1 point into bag space and now my horse will never be max speed......... ugh!
I wrote a poem that I titled, "The ganker's delight."

As you lay upon the ground, cry not little pawn.
The pain will pass as quickly as my blade did take you,
but my delight will last and you will respawn.
My heart simply cannot contain my joy, when I ply my trade.

The fault lies with you, your skill was lacking.
Now your salt is mine forever, can't you hear the laughing?
Once you were so proud and now you are reduced to this.
    A miserable, loud deuced fool.

With every tear you drip, with every excuse you let slip.
All of your insecurities and worries bring a smile to my lip.
From your despair I have ripped endless glories,
but our affair is over now. Be afraid for I will return for more.

I have received many titles, to my allies I am The sniper Emperor and Grand champion hero of the Pact. However these titles mean little to me, it is the ones given to me by my victims that I prefer. To them I am "Xv1er", "trash", "no balls", "zerger", "noob", "cringe", "no skill", "camper", "100% new", "the reason this game is dying", "pathetic", "a sack of piece of [snip]", "mediocre", "absolute inbred", "beyond a virgin", "ganky dork", "fat smelly 40yr old virgin", "little girl", "daddy", "exploiting loser", and every [snipped] word known to man.

1 speed point doesn't really make that much difference...don't feel bad about it.

I have one horse that is full speed simply for mobility in Cyrodiil and one that is full stamina at the moment because I was hoping to get some nice looking armor on him. Haven't decided what I'm going to do with the second one yet, now that I've found out that the "armor" is little more than a helmet for the horse.

I put all my points into speed on my light horse. Even if you aren't sprinting, you still go a lot faster. Like others have said I also have a horse that I'm putting points into pack on for PVE farming.

It won't let you switch and will say "You need x more open inventory slots" in the top right, like when you try to decon or refine without enough bag space.

Do you know if passive and or active skills affect horse speed? for example the speed AoE buff from assault skilline

If you sprint while your horse has no stamina, you will get dismounted on the first hit. I have a lot of stamina in my horse, so I often have time to dismount before they are able to knock me off and stun me. I have turned the tables on many attackers because of this.

My Imperial horse is 38 speed, 30 stamina. When people jump me it doesn't demount me until aboot 40% health so I can always react before getting that demount stun.

The assault line buff ability Retreating Maneuver (one of the morphs) definitely affects mount speed and its a significant boost, well worth a slot on one of your weapon bars.
