Aegis Caller for NB? Can i choose something other.

I've looked through a lot of builds and parses for NB, and they all used this set. Is it really the best for NB when there are options like Coral or proc sets like Arca and Whorl? Maybe this set just procs status effects frequently or has something else that makes it the best choice for NB? After all, it's a DoT AoE set, and it seems a bit questionable.
