Remove current BG`s? Why?

Is it true? Is ZOS going to remove the current battlegrounds? This... This is terrible.

I don’t like Cyro. I’m fine with PvP, but Cyro isn’t for me. I believe that if your gameplay doesn’t involve kiting around rocks and resources, or being part of a ball group, then there’s nothing to do in Cyro. Battlegrounds were the perfect PvP content for me. I liked that I wasn’t just required to fight but also to complete objectives, make difficult decisions about how to act in a given situation. I never understood why people can’t accept the 'sandwich game' rule and complain that the third team is some kind of imbalance.

I'm honestly sad... What made ZOS come to these conclusions? People don’t play PvP because of poor performance and bad balance.
Have I met people who play every mode like a deathmatch? Yes, but I wouldn’t say there were really that many.

Alright, alright... so what do we have now, let me explain:

Only deathmatch – you'll only be able to play on DK or Sorc.
4v4 – the losing team will just quit at the start of the match, once it becomes clear who’s stronger.
Buffs on the map – ZOS really doesn’t understand why people only wanted deathmatch. These people want simple, straightforward gameplay with clear rules. These buffs were already in the game before, and players asked for their removal. What’s changed? I allow the possibility that these buffs might be weakened.
And finally... A shared queue for both groups and solo players. Any further explanation is unnecessary.

You know... I’ve seen a lot of U44 datamining. I thought – wow, how cool it’s going to be, some super elite BG modes, two teams of two, and only deathmatch with its own ranking. It would be great if this helps bring back old PvP veterans. No... ZOS is literally replacing the old battlegrounds with these new ones, making them unbearable for ordinary players because without the third team, without the possibility of fighting for second place, the BGs will be too hardcore and repetitive.

Yes, I understand that the group queue for BGs was unacceptably long. But people don’t play PvP because of lags and imbalance, not to mention the overall decline in the game's population and the shift toward casual gameplay that’s been happening for years. But by letting premades into a single queue, you’re effectively driving everyone else away.

Right now, it’s a strange situation. ZOS is trying to implement old community requests. Spellcrafting? OK... But the idea of custom skills is clearly not a great one, which is why everything we do with spellcrafting falls short of the existing skills. BGs with two teams? Isn’t it obvious how this will turn out? Are they really going to 'just do it regardless of the consequences'? It’s likely we’ll get poorly implemented floating mounts. Or maybe full companion customization, where we can dress up a Templar nun companion in a sexualized Daedric skimpy outfit, apply the Naryu personality to her, and then go on quests where she talks about trying to uphold her morals.

I’m getting carried away... But I’m emotional right now. Sorry.

I believe the issue is that if you don't see a large increase in players the new BGs would effectively kill the old ones or vis versa by driving up the queue times.

Companies and developers don't want to take the risk that their older products will kill the newer ones if they can avoid it.

I'd never play the Battlegrounds if there were no Motif drops associated with them and if there were no achievements. It's a horrifically unbalanced mode with bad balancing and even worse matchmaking. Given that the game is over 10 years old, I doubt they have it in them to improve it in any significant way either.

I'm optimistic it'll be great. Back in the nostalgia-tinted early years of BGs there was no Solo vs PreMade queue and I remember those years most fondly of all - because there was a strict MMR and everybody was pretty close in experience level. So if we're headed back to a similar paradigm, less restrictive by queue type, but more restrictive by experience level, I'm all for it. Solo I'm happy to face a pre-made with 3 experienced solo players, ad hoc teams can reveal unexpected synergy between players, sometimes it's nice to experience that against a competitive pre-made versus a team of 4 inexperienced, non-synergistic solos who will quickly be trounced.

Not always though. There will be much trouncing before the MMRs are sorted.
