if you look into your Zenimax folder, there should be a "The Elder Scrolls Online" folder ... if you copy this folder to another place, rename it to "The Elder Scrolls Online EU" and copy it back into the Zenimax folder, you have both clients - there might be minimal patching.

So, just need to use 60GB of storage to get it to work? That sounds a bit odd.

Currently, I don't think there is a known workaround, besides reinstalling the EU client, once you do that, you can freely switch between the two I believe.

The reason for this is because they plan on doing maintenance at different times for both servers, because both areas have different prime times.

Basically if they allowed you to switch freely without having that other install, you'd be able to go into their server, with possibly a different version of the client, and that just doesn't really work...

Trion's Rift client allows freely switching but if one region has been patched then you have to choose whether or not to do so as if you do you'll not have access to the other one and vice versa.

Given it's not practical for clients to be 'multi-versioned' then I think it's workable, at least you have the choice.

Seems to me Zenimax have designed the system to allow this kind of switching but botched the deployment of the launcher so that this patching nightmare exists .. and people reporting after doing the dual-installation losing the 'other' one next time.

Just noticed Anet have announce GW2 is to get 'megaservers', be interesting to see if they overcome the horrible state we're in with ESO when it comes to layering and its' downsides:

    https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-megaserver-system/

    Crucually this comment:
This new system takes your party, guild, language, home world, and other factors into account to match you to a version of the map you’re entering. This will increase the odds that you’ll see the same people more often and play with people of similar interests.

I see no evidence Zenimax's system takes any of that into account, at all.

You could just download the game in a completely different folder.. so you have two launchers, one for EU and one for NA.

I reinstalled the game again, and it made a nice second folder called The Elder Scrolls Online EU. And it STILL launces me into the NA server.
Is there a way I can choose which server to launch? Something I need to configure?

And I still have only one launcher - it is in the directory outside both the ESO and the ESO EU directories. I have no idea where it points, as it is an application and I can't even view it.

    Seriously?
    Start launcher.
Click on a wheel icon in top right corner
    Switch server. Press apply

You need only one launcherfor both version

^^ Wrong. Huge DL commences if you do that.

I have a folder called Launcher and 2 TESO folders, one for EU and one for NA. When I click the options and select NA, it will patch and run the NA version. When I select EU, it will patch and run the EU version. Not sure what you doing wrong

The main problem here is that the launcher sometimes behaves slightly wonky and that the data files of both servers may be exactly the same(after a patch on both) but some TXT etc, files differ.

So usually just renaming the directory leads to problems.
Unless a certain sequence has been kept, like
    1. starting launcher
    2. changing server
    3. exiting launcher
    4. deleting the directory with just started client download
    5. renaming old client directory to new server
    6. starting launcher
    7. hoping repair function will work
    8. remembering one is locked on this server until the other gets patched too

Now I briefly entertained the notion of using the windows symbolic link functionality to point to the .dat files only from the 2nd server directory.
So that one has to only have one actual copy of the client but the launcher sees two.

But I never tried this trick as quite frankly I´m having a hard enough time leveling on one server, let alone doing it all over again on another.
