Targeting bookshelves

IIRC, for the longest time, to target a bookshelf, you would simply put your cursor anywhere on the bookshelf. Now it seems that you need to put your cursor anywhere on the bookshelf other than where the books are. What's up with that? It's very counterintuitive and often a lot harder to do in a rush than it used to be.

I've noticed the same thing. I wouldn't be surprised if it was related to other similar issues.

I have not looked at a shelf in other zones, the new one, it is difficult to activate a shelf now.

first noticed it with new bookshelves introduced with Necrom. I don't get how this has still not been fixed...

I just recently visited Stonefalls for the first time in forever, and the bookshelves there are still very easily targetable. Additionally, where I've gotten used to only the small barrels being lootable, in Stonefalls (and all older zones it seems), even the larger barrels are lootable.

I'm not sure why this was all changed for newer zones, but I liked the old setup where bookshelves were easy to target and if you could see a thing that would hold stuff in real life, you could loot it, regardless of size.

the new zones use a different model for large barrels. they are like the decorative crates you can find in lots of new places (I think I first noticed them in the Gold Coast). for some reason they decided not to make them lootable. or it's unintentional

I've actually had that problem for years with bookshelves everywhere, so I don't think it's anything new-- although the severity of the problem can vary depending on how many books are in the bookcase.
