I'm not seeing any icon indicating a ZOS response in a thread

Used to be to the left of the thread title in the index; not sure how long I haven't been seeing it, but a couple of months maybe? Is it just me?

Well, then, obviously just me; AFAIK, I haven't made any changes that could have sent it missing. I haven't changed anything in my browser (google chrome)....

Maybe loading issues? Pictures sometimes load slowly for me in this forum. (But I can see the icon right now).

No, I get all the other icons, avatars, etc. Just not the "ZOS" response icon.

Yes. I do so a couple of times a day - in the morning before logging in (early....), and in mid afternoon. Chrome is silly about stuff, it's just better to clear cache.

I'd love to go back to Firefox, but they KEEP CHANGING IT FOR NO DAMN REASON!

I don't do stuff like this on a phone. I hate phones. I have a mobile now because my land line company let me sit for months with a dead phone line and simply said, sorry we don't know when we can fix it (and I literally live in the back of beyond, 40 miles from medical, groceries, gas....) So now I have a mobile which doesn't work well either (because I'm on the very edge of Verizon's service in my area....)

I love my back of beyond.... but there ARE issues.... Then again, I've hated telephones ever since they became endemic - um, so that would be back in the mid-1950s. Email and text are fine, just by the divines DO NOT CALL ME.

I see them on my phone because I have the forums set to "Desktop site". This way it looks exactly like it does on my PC.

Any chance you have an Extension such as uBlock Origin, TamperMonkey, etc.. that may mistakenly be filtering out script/css elements that contain that image? I've accidentally killed off regularly seen images a couple of times durinig some seriously sleep deprived web-surfing sessions.

I tried that once but just couldn’t get used to the way it all looked. Maybe it was something about the size of the words or something, or maybe I had to scroll my screen back-and-forth to read things or something.

Ah. Yes, I have uBlock Origin. I haven't messed with the settings though. Guess I'd better do some digging! Thank you!

they have the bright green names
    Dear Community/Followers,

I want to address recent concerns regarding allegations of inappropriate direct messages and supposed cheating. First and foremost, I want to clarify that I do not admit to any wrongdoing. However, I understand that my actions may have been perceived in a way that caused concern.

As many of you know, I am a disabled veteran who served in Iraq, and I am permanently and totally mentally disabled. My PTSD, which was formally diagnosed in 2013 after being reclassified in the DSM-5, has affected me in ways that are difficult to fully explain. While this is not an excuse, it has, at times, clouded my judgment and impacted my behavior. This condition is something I have lived with for a long time, and it is a daily challenge.

As an influencer, streamer, and game reviewer with over 300 reviews, 800 followers on Twitch, and 1,600 followers on TikTok, I understand the responsibility that comes with my platform. Our role as influencers is to set a positive example, and I want to make it clear that I do not condone actions that go against the Terms of Service (TOS) or End User License Agreements (EULA) of any platform or community. Even though societal norms have evolved, and what was once deemed acceptable behavior in the past is no longer appropriate, I am committed to adapting and ensuring that my actions reflect the values we strive for today.

I want to go forward with a commitment to better representing the disabled members of our community. I recognize that I may never fully "fit in" or be "normal," but I am dedicated to improving and learning from these experiences. It is crucial that we have more flexibility and better support services for disabled veterans like myself, so we can remain active members of our communities without being unfairly limited by our disabilities. These services would help ensure that we can make better decisions and avoid situations like this in the future.

Thank you for your understanding, and I am grateful for the continued support of this community as I work to become a better version of myself.

    Sincerely,
    theshockcable

Yes, of course - but I don't spend 24/7/365 here; sometimes Kevin will post some info in a thread while I'm "elsweyr" (like an 80 mile round trip to town, or just buried in the game having fun) and I used to be able to see that an admin or mod had posted by the little icon. Now, since some update to chrome or uBlock a month or so back, I don't see the icon any more. And I do not routinely read EVERY post on the index page - I only read things of interest to me specifically (except for trying to keep track of info about the game posted in other threads by, mostly, Kevin).

I did some tweaks to uBlock but it's still not showing up, even after tweaks and cache-clearing etc. *shrug*

I just took a few minutes to load Chrome on a Windows computer, and then uBlock Origin. And I can see the little icon next to threads where mods have posted. I have no idea why your setup isn't working, while my new install of the same software is working.

It's really odd. I can't exactly pinpoint when I stopped seeing it. I don't *think* it's been as far back as late March when I was setting up this new machine, but considering even though it's still win 10, MANY things work differently from the 9 year old machine it replaced; which was also win 10 but upgraded from original win 7 with the free 2015 release of win 10 and upgraded over all the years in between, mostly with security updates latterly as a lot of the crud I just didn't want - but obviously with an OEM version of win 10 I have all that now anyway....

Hmm. Well THAT was a run-on sentence, my apologies! Anyway, I think I'm going to reinstall firefox and see what happens.

Have you double checked the link saved to your bookmark? To ensure that it is exactly
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en

and does not have any parameters at the end?

No trailing forward slashes or parameters?

It's always been that way, since June of 2018. I've always seen the icon in the past, up until whenever it changed relatively recently.

I only look at General Discussion; bookmarking that specifically is just one click to load the forum instead of several.

Using your link above after clearing cache and opening a new instance of chrome, then selecting General Discussion from the Forums list does not show the icons either.

Just spitballing here, but there's an outside chance that the css element could be inherited from a relative path instead of a direct path to the parent element. Which in theory could result in it not functioning if the element hasn't been properly referenced properly from the top forum page. So perhaps try navigating to the forums from the ESO main page, or go directly to forums.elderscrollsonline.com with no trailing directories or parameters just to see if that corrects it for you.

But hey, like I said, just tossin out ideas here. I'm currently working so I don't have time to Inspect the elements of the page and work backwards from there. My web design/troubleshooting chops are about 5 years out of practice.

Mine are a lot more out of practice than that! Out of 50 clients long back, I have reduced my "load" to just one - the site for our tiny little town, and as soon as they find someone else to run it (I will still host it through my longtime provider) I'll be done. In order to do anything other than just update the agendas and minutes once a month, I'd have to go back to online classes in EVERYTHING! With an aging ailing husband, I don't have the time or the interest....

I'll see what happens with firefox. If it works there, I'll just load this site only through firefox since everything else I need works just fine in chrome.... And thanks for suggestions and help!

Edited to add: works fine in firefox 129.0.2 - so that's going to be my "specific to ESO browser". I used to use firefox exclusively, but I got sick and tired of them changing it all the time. If I'm only using it for one site that one matter so much....

Edit again: well damn. It's a problem with Dark Reader mode - which yes, I installed on chrome a couple of months ago. And just now installed on firefox. And now, no icons on firefox either. *sigh* Guess I'll see if I can find a different dark mode. I'll also report to the Dark Reader site.

So, I'm now using Dark Theme - Dark Mode for Chrome. The header and footer are still white, but everything else (including the staff icons!) is now working correctly.

Again, thanks all, for the help!

I haven't used Dark Reader specifically, but doesn't that also darken the web pages themselves? Still wierd though, cuz it's not like the image you couldn't see has a transparent background so it was just blending in. I guess it isn't 100% infallible when it tweaks the CSS settings of web pages.

Glad it's working now though. :)

Yeah, Dark Reader just darkens everything and uses high-contrast titles, etc. All the icons BUT that ZOS ouroboros one were showing up just fine. Very odd.

Maybe in the morning (when I'm not tired after an 80 mile round trip for stuff in town), I'll pull up the css tweaker in chrome dev tools and see if I can get rid of the remaining white backgrounds. Weird that Dark Mode doesn't get rid of those....
