To build a bar...

Alright, so i've got a dream. So- my character does.

Anyway.

Is there someone who may be able to help me determine what materials, and how many of each one i may need to build a structure. Or is there an addon that i could get where i could build whatever i want, then see how many and what- of whichever items i used so i know what to go buying/making?

Did that make sense? Sorry i just woke up.

you can test out builds on PTS, the public testing server, if you're on PC.

then of whichever furnishings you end up using you can write down the materials you need on the live servers.

To add to that, if you use Essential Housing Tools you can actually copy/paste the build from PTS to the live server.

You will need all the items you used ready to use though, so that means knowing what you used and crafting/collecting it on live.

As for what to use there are many different structural furnishings now, so a lot to choose from but a bit of searching should give you an idea of styles etc.

so, before logging in i clicked on the PTS box.. but nothing seems different now that i've logged in?

How do you build a house on PTS- where can you build one? does it have to be on a property you already own? or what? i'm all confused now.

did you install pts?

once you're on pts everything costs 1 crown including houses and housing editor furnishings of course

i didnt know i had to install anything separately.

It costs crowns to do anything there?? OOoh no. that's not happening.

You get crowns on pts and everything costs 1 crown. i believe you're supposed to get 5500 there which then refreshes daily.

it doesn't cost crowns to do anything there, every crown purchase is reduced to 1 crown so it's easy to test things like furnishings and houses.

if you make a cp 3600 template character on pts you can also get any furnishing plan and crafting materials if you want to instead craft things.

And if you go to launcher settings and you checked the pts box, which you say you did, pts should have started installing.

While using the PTS to test builds is not a bad idea, the reality is that if you are so new to housing that you need help ctreating basic structures, then your best bet initially is to visit a bunch of existing houses - there are absolutely loads of bars/restaurants etc.

I guess later on today/tomorrow you might even be able to do that using the new house visiting system (that absolutely nobody wanted or asked for).

Just spend some time looking at what others have done. Use F5 to see what items they have created structures from, and then try to recreate those ideas in one of your own homes. There is no substitute for test building, and sure you can do that on PTS if you want. But to get the ideas in the first place just look at things people have already done before - you don't need to copy them exactly, but it will give you a basis for adapting your own vision.
