    I have 50 characters across multiple accounts so map clears are time consuming. Therefore I limit what I call a map clear to the following;

    1. All Skyshards.
    2. Public Dungeon quests.
    3. Main story line for that zone.
    4. Mages guild Lorebooks
    With a new character, of course do the starting things first and then to Summerset. Do the zone quest until Artaeum, start the Psijic skill line.

    Psijic takes you all over Tamriel so I do Psijic, skyshards and Mages Guild Lorebooks at the same time - and of course any random activities that I come across. If a dolmen is up, join for Fighters Guild xp, etc. This way you level multiple things at the same time.

    I keep track of them all in a spreadsheet. I believe spreadsheets are the 'real' endgame :)
    My man. This is the way.

    Multiple sheets. Everything from character stats to dungeon completion to collected sets.

    Originally (i.e., on my first character to leave Vvardenfell), I just ran around everywhere accepting as many quests as I could, completing quests in multiple zones from all three alliances totally out of order, such as completing some of the quests from "zone 4" before completing "zone 1," doing the quests in some of the zone questlines backwards and forwards and sideways without realizing it, etc. I was having a lot of fun exploring and wasn't really trying to follow the stories.

    On subsequent characters, I've tried to do things mostly in proper order, which definitely helps the stories make sense. I try to do the miscellaneous quests in a particular area of a zone as the zone's questline moves me along through the zone, which includes things like the delves and various locations (such as ruins) in that section of the zone. But if I miss something, I just go back later to do it, and I don't fret about doing a quest "early" by mistake.
    I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

    Base game, land in new zone, map out clockwise picking up every book, side quest, skyshard, boss abos dungeon along the way. Then main quest. Then sometimes a little mop up of achievements.

    Expansions and DLCs, head to the main city, then head clockwise around the entire zone. Same as above. Doing the areas dailies as I go. Takes me about a month of slow play to finish a zone to where I'm happy with it, convenient as that's also how long the daily achievements take.

    Side note, I've missed a lot of little things like notes for the library, fishing, and minor achievements in all areas. So my current game time is going around all the base game areas with a map add on picking everything up along that I missed, and trying to get all random achievements, like "I like Maiq."

    Actually a good question!

    I used to start in the home city of each zone and slowly explore every single square inch taking all quests I could. Then work my way out into the country side and explore every square inch there. It takes a while. Then I would start on any achievements and finally the zone quest. With Gold Road I changed that as some of the achievements are a pain in the rear without a full zone of people and after a month or so most new zones peter out. I do the achievements first, then the zone quest and then explore. I don't enjoy it as much but it's hard to kill 50 wandering world bosses like there were in the deadlands when nobody is there which is why i made the change.
