Two things which I have noticed on this particular conundrum. First, I've had the Alienware community page for ESO open for a few hours now and the community time hasn't changed from when I first opened the page, regardless of refreshes. I understand my personal time not changing since I haven't been in-game yet, but I find it very difficult to believe that no one on the entire planet has been playing ESO through the Alienware promo event during those hours. Community progress on that page is not well-coded. The second bit is that the page won't update your personal time until you have launched ESO through that page (there's a "Launch Game" button at the bottom of the page) and then exited the game. While the page says that it may take an hour or so after closing the game to update my time, it's been my experience that it's closer to a few minutes. So make sure you're using the Alienware page to launch and be sure to close the game launcher.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

it does update but seems to have quite a long ( multi hour) delay, and only updates after closing the game.

What happens if I don't have ESO launching from my Steam account? It's not in my list of games within my Steam library. I don't have to download the game again just for Steam I hope?

If it’s not in your Steam library, you’d have to purchase it there first in order to connect your ESO account with Steam and then allow Alienware to see your playtime.

The personal time logging is an ongoing issue; not a single hour of Personal play time is being awarded.
I've reached out to Alienware Arena about it, but so far I've had no response

I've had ESO as a standalone product for a few years. I saw it was 60% off on Steam recently for the base game.
Less than £5, so grabbed it so I could earn the rewards for this event.

Hooked everything up correctly, connected accounts, steam settings etc.
Alienware Arena registered it too, as that 'Join Event' button appeared once the game was in my steam library and installed.

Since Aug 9th, when I bought TESO on Steam, I've had 12.3 hours on record according to Steam.
Nothing on the Alienware site has updated though; and that's with starting the game through their 'Launch Game' button, giving days for the data to be logged, and logging out and in.

Entire event seems absolutely scuffed on an individual level.

    What does it look like?
I had the same "problem", all according to the instructions, played about 7 hours, then went off and even after 3 hours I had no counted played time.
Then I looked after about 13 hours and there were already hours played counted.
It seems to take a lot longer to count hours than it says on their website.

Another confusing thing is the code to get the costume.
On their website it says that the rewards are automatic, but on the official ESO website it says to go to the "giveaway" section and pick up the code somewhere there.
On Sunday I met the goal (play 10 hours) and there was nothing in the giveaway section on the alienware arena website to get the code, and nothing in the "my reward" section, and no code was emailed to me either (I read somewhere that codes are sent out to email).
Finally today the costume reward icon appeared in the reward section in my alienware account and there was a code there too.
So practically about two days after completing the goals, a lot of confusion about this whole event and a lot of inaccurate information.
