Stone Giant Skill

Hello,

I've noticed an issue with the Dragonknight skill Stone Giant while playing as a PvE tank. The first cast of the skill involves a stomp, followed by three casts of a throwable rock. However, I've observed that using the initial stomp forces my character to drop block, even when I'm actively holding it.

This behavior is frustrating, especially when tanking in PvE content where maintaining block is crucial for survival. Is this block drop intentional, or is it an oversight? If it's intentional, could you please explain the reasoning behind it? It feels counterintuitive for a tanking skill to have such a significant downside.

I appreciate any insights or clarifications on this matter.

Thank you!

If i recall correctly the initial cast has a cast time of 0.6 seconds. All skills with cast times will drop block for the period that the skill is casting.

I think of it as back when bar swapping dropped block for a very brief moment, it’s something you learn to play around and plan ahead for so that it becomes less of a or a non issue att togeather.

Stone Giant has a cast time for the initial stomp, which means that it will drop block during that time.

The "logic" behind a "tanking skill" having that is simply... that Stone Giant is not designed as a tanking skill. It's a DPS ability. However, like the Alkosh set, it's more useful for a support to run it as it's awkward to weave and would be a DPS loss on a DPS, whereas the buff is helpful to have and a tank's DPS doesn't really matter. Contrast that to the Arcanist's Abyssal Ink debuff, which only buffs the damage of that particular Arcanist, as such you don't see the expectation for Arcanist supports to run Tentacular Dread in the same way that people will normally give the Azandar companion his version of it since it applies Vuln, which also buffs damage from people other than him.
