The new event, pvp, and battlegrounds.

Hey pvp community! I have been playing since beta and love the game in all it's aspects.

But for some years now I've been a pve player, usually the most pve of all. Farming and housing lol

But I made myself a durable warden build i copied off YouTube for pve for the infinite archive, so it's slightly tankier then I use in pve.

So for the event I brought my pve archive warden into battlegrounds to do the event.

And I haven't done pvp in like 5 years.

And I have been absolutely wrecking it.

20k 0d 18A scores.

I've wracked a million ap.

I got like multiple titles and achievements. For slaying and damaging and relicing and dominating.

I find my build hard for ppl to kill and easy for me to drop whole groups in my aoe.

I'm basically just standing around healing and everyone falls dead around me.

I had no idea I could do so well. And against some ppl with really high cp and pvp pros.

And when me and the pros got teamed together we DESTROYED.

I have had so so so much fun.

I never would have thought to bring my pve build in.

And the only reason it is doing well is cause it's tanky for the infinite archive.

I was really enjoying the changes to Sorc sheilds myself.

Glad you had fun!

Do keep in mind, though, that Battlegrounds have a match making rank (MMR) system. If you don’t routinely run BGs on that character, you were most likely playing against other low MMR rank PVEers or newer PVPers who’ve not yet climbed up in the rankings. A tanky Warden Archive build would definitely do very well against other PVEers/new PVPers who don’t have proper PVP builds. An Archive build wouldn’t really be able to go toe to toe against experienced PVPers in high MMR matches, though.

Archive builds have more in common with PvP builds than you'd think, since they have to be somewhat tanky with both self sustain and damage, honestly one of the better choices for a PvE player getting into PvP.

Welcome to PvP OP, happy to hear the event is bringing people in!

Oh, for sure — but they’re more set up for sustained damage, rather than burst damage. I agree that they’re definitely a good choice for someone getting into PVP or returning to PVP after a long time, but there are definitely better options once they feel more comfortable or once they start entering higher MMR brackets against other opponents with tanky burst builds.

These style builds that durdle for 40 seconds then try to Balo Acuity dump currently rely on Vamp 3 to be able to face tank while wearing 3 damage/sustain sets, while sustained pressure builds are largely held back by Vamp 3 brick walling them once the opponent is in execute range. The righteous Vamp 3 nerf should balance this better come u43.
