Option to Hide Tabard in ESO

I've been enjoying my time in The Elder Scrolls Online and love the variety of outfit styles we can use to express our characters' individuality. However, I’ve noticed that wearing a tabard can often overshadow these carefully chosen looks. While tabards are a great way to show allegiance to a guild, they tend to cover up our outfits, which can be frustrating for those of us who put a lot of effort into our character's appearance.

I propose that we have an option to hide the tabard, similar to how we can hide helmets. This would allow us to proudly display our guild affiliation when desired, without permanently obscuring our meticulously designed outfits.

Implementing this feature would give players more freedom and flexibility in customizing their characters while maintaining the ability to show guild pride when we choose. I believe this change would be a great quality-of-life improvement for many players.

What do you all think? I’d love to hear your thoughts and see if we can get some support for this idea!

That's a precious bag space though.

Y'know, if you're interested in guild pride you could probably ask for a title to be added that's <rank> of <guild 1>, which I imagine would be easier than the graphical hiding.

What if we both want to represent our guild and show off our impeccable style?

zos talked about this in May:

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/658726/follow-up-q-a-from-eso-10-year-celebration-event-community-roundtable/p1

Q: Will we ever get the ability to hide our guild tabard, like we can hide helms?
A: This is another request that has come up often over the years. We understand how important this is to some of our players, especially our roleplay and ESO fashion enthusiasts! Like the suggestion for guild heraldry on mounts, this is something we do have on our backlog and want to improve the overall experience. It’s also not as simple as turning off the visibility of armor pieces such helms and shoulders, for example, due to how our guild tabards and overhead guild nameplates are coded on the back-end.

    so maybe it'll happen eventually

Hm. Idea: another 'appearance' slot item called 'dogtags' or something similar that set the tabard nameplate flag when equipped, but have no actual model or texture (like jewelry). Sell them in the same section as tabards. You can only equip one appearance item at a time so conflicts shouldn't be a problem. At least I think that'd be the easiest bandaid on the issue.

If you wanna be able to have appearance items on top of guild rep that'd probably be a bit more of a headache, but consider that a lot of the flashier appearance items aren't allowed in pvp anyway.

Rather than hiding tabards, I would prefer it if ZOS made tabards cosmetic only, and gave everyone the option to display their guild tag of choice WITHOUT having to take up five inventory spaces. That way, the handful of people who actually like the appearance of tabards could continue to use them for cosmetic reasons, while the rest of us could select our displayed guild tag via social options.
