The Warden Scribing Charm
  • has no easily identifiable telegraph
  • cannot be avoided with roll dodge
  • realistically will never be blocked unless you're in a laser focused 1v1 and expect the charm
  • is guaranteed to charm for at least 1 second due to position desync

Yea, I find learning the tells of scribing skills to be challenging, but most you can learn what to expect. I had a 1v1 (well technically a 2v1 but the other AD literally didnt even heal themselves and died in seconds) with ReactSlower about a month ago, and, dont get me wrong, im 99% sure Id generally lose to React in most scenarios, guy is leagues better than me, but my DK is a beast and I was doing well.... except for that charm. I just could not see a tell/sign for it. and you do always get at least 1 second of eating whatever is thrown at you with it. The arcanist charm has a great telegraph, you know to block it. The warden one, I just couldnt see. Figured I just needed to learn it, but every time I encountered it since then I just... couldnt see it happening.

Fix the aoe telegraph to be a normal red circle, make it more visually obvious your character is charmed. These things are both obscured by Northern Storm. Also fix the damn pull sets to have real telegraphs and stop double pulling.

Did you know that it's also UNBLOCKABLE?! 😒 It's extremely overtuned on top of the issues you listed.

Like all gear or skill that provides a pull that doesn’t trigger control immunity it’s balanced. I say remove control immunity from the game or improve it as half the stuff used in pvp with cc effects don’t apply or are impacted by cc immunity.

I was in a battleground a few days ago and brawling in a healer fight, and someone was using this ability. I started to rubberband cause I would get charmed, couldn’t break free, and then when I did break free I was charmed again. It would drag me back to where I was first charmed

Here’s an idea. Remove the charm and replace it with a freeze (think arctic blast stun). The charm is really quite annoying when you are hit by it because it’s so glitchy to break free from AND when you are using it because it causes targets to run behind your character… away from your shalks. Also we have a spammable that is stronger when it (once in a blue moon) hits targets at range so why do we have a script that causes targets to run to us? This would be a much better script on decidedly melee classes like dk… but on a mid range class like warden? It’s just annoying in every way.

I would like to see all cc to require break out and gain cc immunity. I M honestly tired of using 4K magic to cleanse than needing to cleanse again and again on my Templar when my warden gets it for free and on sequential uses gets a heal.

I say not balance mostly because it's just not funny at all to play against and even not really to use itself.

In PvE it's pointless for every role, we would rather a freeze or immobilize with little frost damage followed by the snare.

That charm is just there to troll people in PvP.

Not sure. Most the problems are in the telegraph and game function. That's not a balance problem but a game problem. That said; since they can't fix the game, they need to make decisions based on that reality

Honestly best cc effect against ball groups add in healing absorption and defile and the enemies simply melt.

That's in fact a good point but I still find the idea of the script just so useless in general. It reminds me frozen gate.

The telegraph could be made more obvious.

I believe as someone else said it will appear as an enemy AoE on the ground from the next update. Unfortunately with uneven surfaces, ramps and stairs, sometimes AoEs do not display at all which isn't helpful.

However I'm not going to say it needs a change because it does have counterplay. Get out the AoE before the charm goes off.

There's a reason why that animation was removed from "Fear", and here we go again with it being reintroduced... Come on ZOS, learn from your mistakes!

They're also reintroducing what's basically randomly dodging attacks with that new IA NB set. Another lesson forgotten, along with procs going off on ranged stealth attacks, burst procs stacking with each other...

The Warden script would be fine if the telegraph and stun could just be normal. This is why you have standardization, for procs and visuals, not to make class defining skills like Arc Flail as bland and weak as generics.
