Can anyone confirm this *** thing exists? Been running world boss and Ashlander quests going on 4 weeks now across 4 different characters (12 coffers a day). That's 336 of these garbage things without a drop (12x28=336). Are drop rates bugged? Has anyone actually gotten this recently, or did everyone already farm it, when the drop rate maybe wasn't botched? I have everything except for this, and all the other leads only took maybe an hour of playtime. Didn't even have any issues with the dreaded Scriveners Hall chests (got it on the third chest). Whoever came up with the idea to lock a lead behind dailies should be fired.

Not sure why you mentioned Ashlander quests but every resource I use says it's only the World Bosses. But RNG is RNG and everyone has that white whale lead they need, just look at the recent music box discussion from Gold Road.

I'm skeptic about the Ashlander quests myself. Most sources say just boss coffers. https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/652827/infinite-archive-filer-ool-and-armor-set-drops-between-february-20-and-february-27-2024 mentions Ashlander chests. Seen another post where someone claims to have got it from Ashlanders as well. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if some patch inadvertenly removed it or something and it's no longer even in the game.

Pretty sure that you are doing the wrong dailies!
Afaik, the Velothi Ur lead drops from World Boss dailies offered by Beleru Omoril in the Halls of Justice in Vivec City.

As mentioned before, been doing the world boss dailies. I agree random posters can't be trusted, but I guess the person who posts the weekly Infinite Archive Filer Ool inventory is also wrong.

Lead: Ebony-Crossed Sword Chain (5000 Fortunes)

One of the leads for the Velothi Ur-Mage's Amulet Mythic.
It can alternatively be collected from the World Boss (Vivec City) and Relic (Ald'ruhn) daily coffers. Its digsite is located in the Telvanni Peninsula.

I think the point remains that the drop rate is absolute garbage, and may even be bugged.

I got it a few days ago when I was helping someone with a world boss. They shared the quest and it was in my reward box.

Something to know when hunting for leads: There seems to be a modifier for drop chances based on the number of active leads.
To trigger this you need to scry and excavate all of your open leads, until only the green ones are left. After that just trigger your intended/wanted lead drop. And your drop chance should be much better, now.

*(I know, I am the guy who claims something on the internet, now 😅 )

This is completely anecdotal. I do not have any confirmation by a source with authority on this. But I have shared my suspicion with a lot of friends and guildmates and also on the forum, and most are sceptical but give it a try anyways. Because at 200 tries without a drop, what have you got to loose?

And then somehow they get their elusive lead drop ...

For what it's worth, I am playing on PS EU and since the last update I started farming the leads for the gold road mythics.

It may be anecdotal, but each and every lead drop of these 15 leads for the three new mythics happened most of the time on the first (!) try and never later than the third try.

I farmed around 15 to 20 hours psijic-portals for the Dov-rha Sabaton Toe Cap so I am quite used to, and personally OK with, grinding.

Don't get my wrong, I might have been super-lucky 15 times in a row. But somehow I don't believe that and I think/consider/wonder that the lead drop rates got drastically increased.

It does seem like that the leads in the new chapter have - or had, maybe they've patched it like they patched the fragment drop rate in the new PDs - a much higher drop rate than usual.

So much so that the first lead in HoF was - again not sure if still is - guaranteed.

If it was intended, a welcome change; if it was unintended, welcome all the same.

After umpteen runs - last 10 or so having to do them on my own because everyone else already got it and they are sick of the place - I still haven't managed to obtain the lead from the final optional boss in Coral Aerie, if I never find myself again in this situation it will be too soon.

I lucked out completly at this one and got it in the first coffer. I did the world boss only quest.

I'm still missing the lead from SH and I'm currently farming keys. Going for 20 so I can get the secret boss as well.
