Crown Food Broken?

Can someone look at this and help me figure out why my crown food is giving me less than expected?

Crown Fortifying Meal:

This is what it is actually giving me:

This stuff was giving me more health yesterday...not sure why today I am now getting less. Anyone know of a reason? Im normally over 40k health...41-42k....now down to 39k.

So the only thing I did different on my end is I upgraded my weapon and all body armor pieces from purple to yellow. After upgrading from purple to yellow my stats are actually lower. I dont understand. I am squishier in pvp. My health is lower...which makes my polar wind heal lower...and my stamina and recovery are lower as well which has been a pain.

Others I have asked about it were unsure what could cause it so figured I'd ask on here. New to upgrading past purple, so I am not sure if it causes issues with things.

There was a bug for years (not sure if it was ever fixed) where some food items show less on the character sheet's tool-tip than what the food item shows on its tool-tip. But I think this was just a visual bug with the character sheet's tool-tip and the foods still gave the correct amount of stats.

The only thing I can think of is: were you recently under level 50 and now are over level 50? Because while under level 50 your character gets a stat boost but when they hit 50 it goes away. And that will definitely make your stats shrink a little bit.

Still in the game, just tested and the tooltip is much lower than the actual benefit applied.

Well if the only thing that you changed was upgrading the quality of your gear, then I have no idea why your stats would be lower. Maybe try to un-equip all gear, go to the character sheet and remove the food buff effect, and then re-equip all gear and eat the food again to see if maybe that fixes it?

Basically "turn it off, and then on again." :D

Yeah it figures... I haven't bothered checking in a while because I know how much stats I should have after using a food buff.

Did the un-equip and re-equip. I even used the UESP builder to check as well and it has the values I had the previous day on there. Just today for some reason its like I am missing a piece of gear and the food (the ones you have to spend real money for) is not giving the right amount.

I've pretty much always seen lower values than what's on the tooltip. I thought maybe the values were scaling based on something, but maybe the bug that was supposed to have been squashed is still there.

I usually dont have CP on because all I am doing on this character is Battlegrounds. Yesterday I did put CP on. Now with the CP (max health stats) and the food I can only get 40k health....lower than I had without CP yesterday in a battleground.

This is really weird. Were there any updates to the game for the pvp event?

Some other things to rule out:

Have you checked to make sure all of your Class, Skill, Armor, etc. Passives are intact?

Are you are Warden, or maybe played with a Warden, and had the Minor Toughness Buff yesterday, but do not have it now while checking your health stat? My health is usually 40K, and if someone gives me that buff it increases my health to ~43K. "Maturation: When you activate a heal on yourself or an ally you grant the target Minor Toughness, increasing their Max Health by 10% for 20 seconds."

I'm just brainstorming, trying to help you get this figured out...

warden, always checking after healing myself. Its why im so vigilant on my health bar as I am specced into a polar wind healer setup so full health and try to be minimum 40k health. So when it dips, it lets me know im missing something. Now that I cant get over 40, I'm trying to figure out where I messed up or if there is a bug I need to report.

Either way, the food stat amount is definitely a bug.

Yeah I just checked a Jugged Rabbit in Preserves (purple tri-stat food, same as Crown Fortifying Meal) and the character sheet's tool-tip shows "0" for the Health, Magicka and Stamina stats lol. And Jewels of Misrule also shows incorrect amounts. I'm guessing there's probably more that have bugged tool-tips as well...

You know what I've never even checked if I am getting the numbers on the tooltip actually on my character.

I just tested on the character I am presently on using a Capon Tomato-Beet Casserole which has same stats as a Crown Fortifying Meal BUT doesn't have the "These effects are scaled based on your level" portion....

I got exactly the same increase as the tooltip said I should, I wonder if the scaled by level food/drinks are the issue here?

Possible. I've never really checked (because I don't anything critical enough to worry about it) - I just remember reading over the years about buggy food tooltips.

it has been long time like this.

there was possible explanation long ago that some food tooltips without marked lvl are based on cp150 and not cp160 and this is the reason for tooltip and character sheet difference.

When I've tested, the actual stats I gained were in line with the tooltip on the food itself, whether the food is scaling or not. It's the character sheet tooltip that is always goofy, and I think for Capon Tomato-Beet Casserole it probably shows 0 on the character sheet like NOOBxv1 saw with the Jugged Rabbit.

It's a bug since forever,I think a few foods abd drinks have it.It's showing cp160 stats in tooltip, but giving cp150 stats I think.Or it could be you gotta be 3600 CP to get max amount, since says based on level, lol.

Nothing in the game scales above CP 160. They removed how max resources continued to increase to CP 300 years ago.

Like others here have found, the character sheet tooltip cannot be trusted, but it is a UI issue, which is probably why it’s not been a priority to fix.

This would be such an easy fix, though. It does not inspire confidence when stuff like this cannot be fixed in a timely fashion. Yeah, it’s not a game-breaking bug, but that is one box they could check off for their credit.

Same with the outsized attribute bars.

I'm not sure how easy it would be to fix, but I agree that it doesn't inspire confidence to see things like this sit for years without being addressed. Even UI issues can be impactful, exactly as is the case with the bars you mentioned - those have been my cue for the state of my food for ages, and it's far more inconvenient to have to check my character sheet or the buffs list (which extends off the screen at times). The bars are still broken on PTS for next update, too. To clarify, I don't say that UI issues get lower priority because they *should* but because that's how they seem to be treated from years' worth of experiencing them.

Im not sure what changed today but now I am back to over 40k health with the food. Guessing there was a bug that got hotfixed? Same character...same exact food...yesterday could only get 39k and now today 40k.

These kind of things make it pretty hard to theory craft and get builds working properly

I’m saying easy because the tooltip used to work for the food I have been using all this time.

That was removed when base stats were reconfigured in March of 2021. That was also when stats stopped scaling with CP up to 300.

You definitely wont in a BG. BG has no CP but it does have a lot of warden healers who give you 10% health
