PC + Controller - Loot Notifications

I know this is an old one - I think circa 2016 - but seriously... how is this still broken. Why does the loot notification switch sides when you enable controller on PC. It's the stupidest bug and I can't believe that they've just left it broken like this for almost a decade

It changes sides because the default PC UI has the chat box on the left with the loot log on the right, while the default gamepad UI has the chat box on the right, so the loot log is on the left so it's not covered by the chat. It's deliberate and you can enable the gamepad chat box in settings.

I'm not entirely certain why the chat box switches sides between PC and gamepad.

Sounds to me like it's a bug, and the loot notifications should only switch sides, if Gamepad chat mode is enabled
