Without seeing the match in question, I can't tell you which card was used. But there are various cards in the game that have this effect.

This will force you to use a different patron. afaik you can never use the same patron twice in a single turn.

The only patrons limited in that way are Crow and Ansei. All others can be used up to the number of patron uses one has available so long as costs can be paid.

Wait, does this apply to Crow? I know it applies to Ansei because Ansei doesn't have a neutral state. So, 1 turn swings it from unfavored to favored. But Crow just takes all your coin. Are you not able to spend all your coin, play a card to get more coin, and then turn it again using that new coin?

What I'm trying to convey is that all patrons can be used any number of times during a turn except for Ansei and Crow. Those two can't be used when favored.
You can do what you mentioned with Crow. Some people try to protect against a patron win by making the Crow favored, but they may not know (or hope the opponent doesn't know) about the gold sequencing you mention.

Yes, but the OP was originally asking about changing the patron from unfavored to favored. So, I thought you were saying you can't do that with Crow. I see you now mean that you can't use the Crow patron again when favored, which I was aware of.
