The cost in my opinion is ridiculous. I PvP quite often and use soul burst and wield soul mostly wield soul. At first it was fine I had thousands of soul gems in the bank not including on all 18 characters. But after a few days off playing hard in PvP I noticed I was not doing as much damage as before, checked my inventory and those thousands of soul gems were gone. Emptied my other characters inventory of them. 2 hours later they were all gone. My experience is on the Xbox for now I have not logged into my PC account for over a week. Checked around the guild stores for prices. And the prices have skyrocketed on soul gems. I refuse to pay that much gold. My only option is to buy empty ones at a vendor for 32k because zos has apparently increased the price of empty soul gems or something at an in game vendor. Then you have to spend hours filling them up.
Guild store would be a good fix quick fix that is but after 5 or 6 stacks of 200 you're almost in 100k and on Xbox that's ridiculous I haven't logged into PC yet so I'm not sure what the prices are there but I'm sure not any better.
Please add a 75% chance not to use or soul gem passive or just remove the cost all together.
I get the concept that ZOS is going for here but clearly they were not thinking about the convenience or practicality of this cost effect that it will have on players that intend to use these skills as a spammable or even a back bar dot.
I debated about making this post because it may step on somebody's toes that believes the cost is fine but I can't play the way I want to play because I can't see myself affording the in-game expense. And I've had to change my build once again to remove the scribed skills off my bar and that just sucks the enjoyment and immersion out of the game for me. As if they're already isn't enough doing that. That's a different post though lol

Make it an earnable passive. Like if you completed the entire main quest of the game you have a reduction in cost. Because at the moment over 4,000 magic for the spell and a soul gem jezz

    PC NA prices are very reasonable on guild traders. Usually 30-50 gold each or 6-10k per stack.

    I would support expanding the Soul Lock passive which is currently "When you kill an enemy you have a 10% chance to fill a soul gem" to also include "When you cast an ability that would consume a soul gem you have a 10% chance to salvage the empty gem", but nothing more than that. Oblivion Damage damage shouldn't be free.

Oblivion Damage damage shouldn't be free.

    This is a good idea.

    Beyond that, the only other change I'd like to see is soul gems stacking to 1,000 like poisons do, since they have a similar consumption rate.

    If the soul gem cost was removed, it would certainly be nerfed because it's very strong.

    I've been merchanting soul gems for many years as I'm sure many players have. They are incredibly abundant. I'm fine with it as it is.

    I found the oblivion damage skill to be underwhelming...

    Not sure I will keep that morph.

    I'm now imagining the Vestige walking around with Soul Gems just bursting out of every pocket, leaving a trail behind them.
