I bought the Redguard Window but it doesn't seem to cast light on the ground. It did for a minute while I was placing it, but then it stopped. Is it bugged?

Was it night time when you placed it? I know that the Telvanni windows stop showing light at that time.

The way windows display light (how much and the angle at which it shines through the window) is dependent on the time of day.

I have my house set to night time. The weird thing was that it was casting light on the ground for a while, then it just stopped. I quit and relaunched, but the light cast was still off. The window itself was bright, though.

All these type or furnishings depend on the WEATHER, not time of day. They only cast the light when there is light to be casted, like moon or sun. It does not work if the weather is rainy or cloudy. this why we would need weather toggle in out houses.

The Redguard windows definitely stop casting their pretty lighting effect sometimes. It's not dependent on time of day, becaused I've noticed the shadows disappearing after I'd been in a house for a few minutes with the time of day fixed by the Hourglass.

If you have too many fountains in a house, the falling water visuals get stopped sometimes—I wonder if it's something similar.

Eh, the Luminaries' fountains in the Scholarium aren't always there all the time. I'll see 1 or 2, occasionally 3 - but generally not all of them every time I'm there.

It has been well discussed over the years that infact weather as oppose to time of day affects window reflections. 🙂

I suspect that you are both correct. I was in my house today while it was daytime outside, and the light was casting on the ground, but then it seemed to stop casting at sunset.

The weather was consistently sunny throughout (in the Alik'r desert).

Edit: Nope, it's still night time outside and the windows are casting light again. Hmm, I have no idea. Perhaps a few clouds in the sky might have affected it then.

Edit again: After spending the entire day popping in and out of the Alik'r house, I've figured it out. The windows will cast light both day and night, but will stop casting during dust storms.

It's a mix.

It's not completely dependent on either one, but both. Cloud cover, position of the sun and moon; they all have an effect.
