To start this off, I'd like to point out that what's about to come isn't a rant. Despite the
Waking Flame DLC that brought us the
Silver Rose style having been released almost three years ago, I'm sincerely hoping that Zenimax will see this and address the situation. But then, I'm just a former Guild Wars 2 player of well over 45k hours being still relatively new to The Elder Scrolls Online and according to some of the things I've been told by friends and members of my guilds, I might be expecting a bit too much from the very same company that exclusively aligns walls, doors and windows by sight without ever measuring a damn thing.
This is about the
Silver Rose Bow and the situation is as follows:
- Dye channel 1 affects the bow's limbs and the leather base of the quiver
- Dye channel 2 affects the metal decorations on the bow and the leather decorations on the quiver
- Dye channel 3 affects the bow's grip, the metal decorations on the quiver and the arrows
But, by all things sacred and holy, WHY?
This effectively makes it so that if I want a golden hue on the metal decorations, the only usable dye will be
Rank 4 Materials.
Now, productive feedback requires pointing out an issue and then offering a solution, so here's the solution I've got to offer:
- Make dye channel 1 affect the bow's limbs and the leather base of the quiver - TL;DR: keep it as is
- Make dye channel 2 affect the metal decorations on the bow and quiver and the arrows
- Make dye channel 3 affect the bow's grip and the leather decorations on the quiver
Dye channel 1 could instead also affect the arrows, which would turn the metal arrows into wooden arrows, but I'd honestly be fine with either. That isn't the problem anyway, it's the fact that two dye channels affect two different materials at the same time, severely limiting the use of any dyes on the weapon, which is only amplified for the worse by the fact that the dye system in this game is absolutely terrible because most dyes are just
X shades of slightly-tinted gray and locked dyes can't even be previewed.
I just recently discovered and unlocked this gorgeous costume called
Courtly Traveling Attire and realized that it would make for an excellent fit for the
Silver Rose Bow, which I've been using ever since because it's the only decently-sized bow I've found that isn't ugly. I also spent quite a lot of time, work and money to unlock this wonderful dye called
Divine Gold and I'd love to show it off on both the costume and the bow, but thanks to the bow's material separation, which clearly hasn't been thought through, that won't be possible.
