Scribing feedback

I will just preface this to say that I love scribing and love being able to make new skills, it's overall a really great addition to the game.

However the one thing I am disappointed by is the way certain damage types can't be applied to certain skills. I understand that there has to be some restrictions for affixes and signiture script combinations but I was really looking forward to being able to put fire damage on daggers for my DK.
I can assign magic damage but not fire... Is there a good reason for this?
I also wanted to put poison or disease damage on the staff skill which would be super fun for my necro characters.

So impressed with some aspects and underwhelmed with others.

Yeah the very first thing I did was try and put bleed on my staff. It didn't work of course. I then decided maybe I should just hang onto the very tiny amount of ink I have until there is a guild as to what types of skills work best.

I would have liked to just experiment but the limited ink doesn't allow for that.

I just scribed my first skill (aside from the one that we scribe during the initial quest), and I must say, this looks like it's going to be a fun system to explore!

I hadn't touched it, or the new zone, on the PTS before Gold Road dropped, nor have I watched any streams or videos about it, so this is all pretty fresh to me. Furthermore, I didn't want to buy any grimoires or scribe any skills until I'd collected all of the scripts, so I wouldn't feel like I might be wasting luminous ink on skills only to discover later that there were even better skills which I was more interested in.

One thing I hadn't realized, and that I'm glad about, is that each grimoire is specific to a particular skill line, so that means I'm not required to buy all of them, since each of my characters have only a few specific skill lines they actually use, hence I don't need to buy more than a few grimoires on any given character. This event is also a great time to buy grimoires, since they're available at a 10% discount! :)

That also means I won't need to acquire as much luminous ink as I'd feared, since there aren't going to be very many potential combinations under any given grimoire that I'll be especially keen to try. It would certainly be nice to have the capability to scribe all possible combinations, but in reality it's extremely unlikely that I'd ever be seriously interested in most of them on a given character, since for each character I tend to have skills from only a few skill lines on their ability bars. Not only that, but I'm not likely to want to give up more than 1 or 2 slots on my front and back ability bars, so realistically for a given character I'm going to be scribing only a few skills.

One thing that would be nice is if we could modify scribed skills by selecting them at the scribing altar and then choosing a different signature, focus, or affix script for it, at a cost of 1 luminous ink. I'm assuming that isn't already possible; I haven't done much playing around with the scribing altar yet.

Don';t worry this is the case. Each skill has three parts and you use 1 ink per part you want to change. So I made the elemental fire explosion as soon as I could and just threw any affix on the end which cost me 3 ink. Then when I finally got the brittle affix I changed that part of the skill for 1 ink.
    So don't worry.

Also one of the Luminaries, I can't remember which, makes it so that you have a small chance to find ink in crafting nodes. It's about the same rate as harvesting nirncrux from nodes in Craglorn, so for every 100 nodes 3-5 of them seem to have ink and ink drops in amounts of 1-3 per node.

    That's how it works.

I really like the throw shield as it adds a ranged attack to sword and board but I gotta say the animation reminds me more of that circle thing that Xena throws in the TV show verses the Captain America reference I've been seeing.

I could see some Role playing on a character with that one if you could change the color of the animation to gold.
