Why doesn't being a subscriber give you access?

I'm surprised that being a subscriber doesn't give us access to the new DLC? because logically, being a subscriber should give subscribers this kind of advantage. As subscribed players, we should be able to access it, but once the player decides to stop being a subscriber, they will no longer have access to the content.

ESO+ subscriptions only give you access to all the DLCs prior to the current one. ZOS probably did this for financial reasons: they'd make a lot less money from new DLCs if all ESO+ subscribers automatically had access to it without paying more.

If you're talking about Gold Road, it's not classed as a "DLC" (because it's a "Chapter") until the next chapter lands, presumably June 2025. Been that way quite a while now....

I mean it's business - the new chapter each year is likely a major money-maker for them.

That income would have to be made up somewhere else, like a substantial increase in the price of a sub, if the newest chapter was included.

If one doesn't want to pay full price for Gold Road right now, it usually goes on sale a little later in the year, for example during the upcoming community event (the Necrom community event was in late September last year). It might also go on sale during Quakecon (can't remember for sure).

As mentioned, it will only be included in ESO Plus once the next chapter is released.

We already get a lot of advantages from our subscription, and to be true - I rather pay the upgrade price once a year than to see the price for ESO+ raise to an amount a lot of people could no longer afford (especially in the current economy).

And they would have to do that, or where would the lost income from chapters come from? They have servers to maintain and staff to pay a fair wage to.

The way it is seem to be a fair deal. People who (currently) cannot afford the chapter still can get ESO+ and enjoy a huge part of the game. People who get the chapter on the other hand contribute to the servers staying up and the devs being able to further develop the game. Everybody wins.

Take away the income from selling the chapter? ESO+ prices have to be raised, lots of people can/will no longer pay, income further drops, people get fired, servers have to shut down. Everybody looses.

Well, I went to Telvanni Peninsula today on what's left of the free trial.

It's still there after 12 months.
