Do players still buy crowns with gold?

I haven't seen any players in the past 6 months using zone chat to exchange gold for crowns. Maybe one of my addons is blocking the spam but there used to be many players in zone chat every day looking for crowns/gold. Did something change recently where players aren't buying or selling?

Not everyone is able to sell them anymore as gifting is restricted to accounts that are at least 6 months old and that are in good standing plus meet other nebulous criteria.

Yup, on the selling side it seems like many are still unable to sell crowns... either because they don't qualify yet, are getting rejected for unclear reasons, or they just don't feel like going through the trouble. It took me a lot of time and back and forth with support to get gifting unlocked.

On the other side, my personal opinion is that it's too risky to buy crowns from untrusted people at this point because there is no way to determine if they're involved in the sort of fraudulent activity that caused the crown gifting pause last year.

I don't want to risk my account getting caught up in some kind of trail of fraudulent crowns and gold.

I of course don't *know* if this could happen, but with all the time and money I've sunk into ESO it's simply not worth the risk, thus I only buy crowns through trusted players such as officers or very long-term players in my guilds.

I've bought crowns for 3 houses in the past but the price has gone up so much I don't feel it's worth the cost any more.

There are zone chat buyers and sellers all the time on PCNA.

Not everyone uses zone chat, and yes they do. I bought some this morning but I use WCE to find people looking to trade and not zone chat.

I know myself after being scammed and not being given a refund, I'm not going to try to buy from zone chat ever again. But I'm sure there will be plenty of people in 2 days posting WTB 1500/5000/8000 crowns for the new bundle. Also there's less sellers with the change to gifting. I only buy from a few friends/guildies.
