The Cost of Houses And Periods Of Availability

Hello all. I am new-ish to ESO. I started in March and have been really enjoying it so far. I initially purchased the Gold Road Deluxe bundle to get the game, Gold Road, and all previous chapters. I ended up subscribing to ESO plus because it proved to be worthwhile with as much as I have been playing.

I quickly became interested in housing. The Tower of Unutterable Truths really caught my eye. After further searching, I was disappointed to learn that the house came and went after a very brief 3 week period of availability.

This was surprising to me; for a house that was apparently made to coincide with the Necrom chapter, one would think it would stay on the store AT LEAST for as long as Necrom was the latest and greatest chapter (until the release of Gold Road). Not only that, I learned that the houses cost even more than buying the game itself and all available chapters. It’s strange to me that I can buy the game and all expansions but pay more for a digital home within that game. I think the price should be equal to if not less than the cost of the deluxe edition of the game.

All of this to say, I really think that ZOS should consider significantly increasing the availability of houses that coincide with a chapter. From the release date of the chapter to the release date of the next one sounds perfectly reasonable to me. If not that, then significantly decrease the cost because giving players 3 weeks to decide if they want to drop $120+ USD on a digital house is just insane to me.

P.S. I would like to see the Tower of Unutterable Truths become available again, but it looks like I’d be stuck waiting until 2025 for that one…

I've been playing on and off for years but came back and just missed this one so I'm in a similar boat. It's seriously the one crown store house I'd love to have, and it's unlikely to come back into rotation for another year or possibly two.

Once upon a time they used to allow you to submit support tickets and request manual deduction of the base house cost and they'd give you the house utterly without furnishings. Usually the "unfurnished" version still has quite a few furnishings. But they stopped doing that.

Yeah it's FOMO garbage. I swear they'd make more sales if you could just buy at will. Having to wait a year for a house is pure ***.

Some of the costs are a bit much - I still fail to see how anyone can justify charging twice the price of an AAA game for an ESO house.

I skip the FOMO for these until they raise the furnishing limit. Otherwise, buying it's a waste of money. That's my cope.

Zenimax puts homes up as Limited-Time Offerings but usually brings them back after a long time off the market.

The reason is that they discount the crowns twice a year. So a LTO that someone really wants but did not bank crowns while discounted means they have to buy crowns at full price. That is the revenue driver and reasoning behind the LTO. Like it or not, that is how it is and will probably stay like that.
