The quest states, "Defeat Champion in Forgotten Wastes or Nchuleftingth", but the group event boss apparently does not count. Checked twice.

✭✭✭✭✭Group bosses are not "champions". If you look at the public dungeon achievements, there is always a "Conqueror" achievement for each dungeon to defeat "all champions" in the dungeon and it never includes the group event boss.1 -
