The duration of the status effect from Wield soul with the Defile script is not affected by the Serpent's distain set. Im not sure about other combos as I havnt had the option to test
Defile is not a status effect. It's just a debuff.
Status effects are like diseased, which also procs minor defile.
Interesting because the set does seem to increase the effect minor defile when proccing a disease damage weapon glyph
Probably because the diseased status effect applies defile and the longer the diseased status persists, the longer the target is defiled. That would be my guess.

So if I understand you correctly, because the set increases the duration of the source of the minor defile when procing a glyph, that also increases the duration of the defile effect as well? And since the source of the major defile from Wield Soul isnt a disease status effect but rather the skill itself it is not affected by the set?
That makes a lot of sense to be honest. thx for clearing that up!
Status Effects are debuffs that apply certain effects.
Diseased is a status effect that, while it persists, applies Minor Defile.
Serpent's Disdain will not increase the duration of Major Defile, nor will it increase the duration of Minor Defile that's sourced from an ability. It will only increase the duration of Status Effects, which may include Minor Debuffs if the Status Effect is tied to a Minor Debuff. Diseased applies Minor Defile, so by increasing the duration of Diseased, you're increasing the duration of Minor Defile.
This will not work with ability sourced Minor Defile.
