How do they know who to give crafting material to, if they don't "LF Crafter" first?

I'm usually the crafter, but I see no issue with asking in zone chat. Heck I'd even encourage it. It provides the customer with a contractual agreement with witnesses. So that if they hand over the mats to the crafter, and then the crafter bails on them keeping the mats, then a support ticket can be filed, or the crafter's reputation gets shot to hell and nobody'd do business with them again.

The majority of players arent keen on just giving the mats away without a guarantee.

I must admit I don't really understand the complaint... they're LF crafter who can then contact them to go over any arrangements via PM. What's the issue? Why would anyone just hand over their materials, and to whom? Bizarre.

I guess the joke is that in fact various crafters are able to do different things.
Does the person want a specific glyph? 6-trait set? 9-trait set? Nirnhoned item to learn? Dance with a 9-trait crafter?
Nobody knows, so the person lowers their chance to find a crafter they need.
It would be a great idea to specify what they want in their first message.

Imagine someone went to a foodcort and shout "I want some food"
Trust me those "LF crafter" mates won't be happy by just random crafted thing you would send them

I’m happy to help if people know what they want but a vague “lf crafter” has a high potential to be time consuming while the person figures out what they actually want crafted and then has no materials to supply.

I think folks looking for a crafter in zone chat are no more of a problem than someone posting a response to their request on the forums where they will never see it :P

In all seriousness though, it's likely that some or many of the people asking in zone chat are newer players who don't yet have friends or a guild to ask; aren't on the forums; don't know about the "rules" that a lot of crafters have; and may not know what they want crafted or what's involved in terms of mats required.

If one is feeling helpful... respond. Otherwise just don't? *shrug*. (I personally play with zone chat off most of the time, but I do offer crafting services to people in my guilds... as long as people know what that want first).

There's a lot of players who can craft who won't engage with a lot of "lf crafter" posts in global. I'll make specific trait research items for new players with the common traits, but a lot of other requests turn into extremely long discussions because the a asker often doesn't know what they want, or what it needs to be crafted, doesn't have the materials or expects the crafter to craft for free or to bargain hunt for the mats.

Because, most of requester who talk like this is below the Lv50 who want training trait gear.
I have much of CP 160 crafting material, but not much item below the 50.

I understand OP in this scenario...

To make it short.

After about 20-30 min of juggling what the person wanted. Asking many questions to know all the specifics. Person changing in due process.

Person gives you 5k for your troubles...

From that on I always ask for price before saying anything else.
