Did someone get a bonus for each ground effect in last release?

What is it with all the ground effects ALL OVER THE PLACE!

Some make sense, but too many in several of the fights, and getting hit with 4 at a time can take me out even fully healed and warded!

Oh heavens, me! What fate shall befall us from these ground effects indeed!

What is it with all the ground effects ALL OVER THE PLACE!

Some make sense, but too many in several of the fights, and getting hit with 4 at a time can take me out even fully healed and warded!

There is also an effect or debuff called "Healing Absorption" which means that when you are healing yourself or somebody else that up to a certain amount all heals will now instead have to be "absorbed" before you can have normal heal added to your Health Pool (HP), it works the same if you would have a "Shield Absorption" on yourself or target, but now all Shields strength (which is the same as an extra HP that will take all damage [in most cases only damage from projectiles or damage that aren't AoE, before it is depleted before damage will start to reduce your HP). Shield Absorption will instead reduce your Shield with a certain amount until you can apply a Shield as normal without any reduction in the amount of damage Shield can take before damage will go to your HP.

So from your description in looks like you also where having at least one of those effect or debuff on you while expecting to heal up or be protected by a shield. Look at your Champion Points if you can reduce the impact of AoE, the impact of Shield decreasing from Absorption and the same from Healing Absorption. There are some Glyphs that you could use to increase Shield, but that wouldn't help if you stand in an ground based AoE where damage is from standing in AoE and most likely also a damage over time effect (DoT).

There are also the difference between magical damage vs physical and related DoT like fire, frost which is only possible from magical damage types vs poison that is part of physical damage type. It is a bit more complex then this so I advice you look up the more correct definition and usages. My point here is that when you stand in an AoE it will often not work to use Shield to prevent damage from ground, but if AoE is connected to a skill that first need to hit your in form of physical damage to create an AoE on ground then Shield will reduce damage from that first hit and you need to dodge out of AoE before it can tick damage on your character, if AoE is static on ground (there are some AoE that when applied on you, it will keep follow you until it have timed out - often combined with where you also need to avoid crossing your own point Blanc AoE (PbAoE) with another player which will cause both of you severe damage or kill both of you).

In short read up about what mechanic any boss encounter might have and try to avoid to depend too much on Shield to handle all damage types. Healing do also have limitations as you can see where Absorbing or Drain debuff can prevent you or anybody around you that have that effect to heal up.

In most cases it can even be better to invest in mobility from CP (more default movement speed for PC, so you can move faster out of AoEs, cost reduction for Sprinting and for Dodge is other options and so on).

And as last resort try to jump over AoEs or even jump while standing in AoE if you are snared or can't move out of AoE as that is free from stamina restriction (you don't need stamina to do a jump, only time it in the right moment and move in direction that are out of AoE - in PvP that is common to see player jumping exactly for that reason).

Oh no! Ground effects! What ever shall we do? Without any specific information given, all I can say is that standing them is probably not recommended.

In MMORPGs, we have a term for standing in them.

I realize that? I was poking fun because there is the other thread asking: Do you schedule Time Off for Chapter Launches?

My (attempted) joke was prompted by you stating "Maybe wrong thread?" and to me Amottica's response sounded like they meant to post their response in that thread...

Eh, just cross-purposes then! I posted to try to grab Amottica's attention so s/he could edit, repost in the other thread etc! My bad - I simply don't "notice" humor unless it's REALLY pointed.... I'm usually way too serious I guess.

No worries, sometimes my "humor" is more funny and obvious in my own head but doesn't translate well outside my brain ;)

No one here gets humor either.

Yes it is frustrating and no we don't have as many in other area. That is what makes it far more frustrating.

Spawning ground effects is not the only possible way of making something challenging but it seems to be the core method in this release.

I will avoid the insults, even though others here are not, but you should accept that some people have their own ideas as well and those may (shock!) disagree with yours!

By last release, do you mean Oathsworn Pit and Bedlam Veil having too many AoEs? I'm not sure where exactly you would be getting hit with multiple at once though.

I mean the Necron release. I should have specified it better.

I have just seen a LOT more ground effects popping up in both the WBs and the world thing that you can hunt. Not the only thing of course, but they stick out. I adapt (as much as I can) but it is almost like when the guy in Alinor will sing every chance he gets, even if you do the things that should end that. I jokingly say that he must have that in his contract.

But some here can't handle the forums being used for suggestions or desires I guess and thus they have got an attitude against anything I say.

Whatever, I do hold desires for what I play.

I already answered, but it seems true for all WBs, though it may only be 2 as you note. IA does have them with some stages, but not all.

The overlapping and "fill the whole area" aspect get to be frustrating. But my OP was more of a frustrated joke, than a major complaint.

People seem to get sassy when they don't understand the post, as I've seen from another thread on here. I would try using a source of evasion, such as dual wield cloak and/or a source of expedition (many classes have expedition in their class skills). ZOS has been trying to get us to move rather than stand in one place and parse, AoEs is one way they're doing that, for better or for worse.
