If you're talking about how necromancer and arcanist each have 3 distinct skill lines which align with tanking, damage dealing, and healing, it's 10 years too late to give the base game classes that treatment.
The base game class skill lines really aren't a mess at all though. They're just sorted by theme instead of intended utility (tank, damage, or heal).

well lets take the nightblade Assassination skill line we have killer blade, teleporting strike, blur, reapers mark and grim focus,
now tell me how blur is an Assassination skill when veiled strike is shadow.
they don't need to change skill functions they just have move them in the proper lines
