Spell resist.. does it even work?

i'm running at the soft cap for spell resist 1890 at the moment.. and yet vet 6 mobs (same as me) can eat my 2k hp in about 2 spells . often one spell. So wots going on . normally if spells are hurting you that bad you probably lack spell resist. but since its capped it cant possibly be a deficiency in spell resist...

Is this just another broken part of this game? like passives that dont work if you die once unless you re-log? honestly something is very wrong with the damage thats done versus how much you can mitigate it.. and before you say dodge , thats not always possible .

and let me clarify i,m not talking about big red circle things you see coming . just a missile from the staffs , it follows you if you dodge. you cant even heal stuff like that cos at the level heals are scaled at vet 6 it takes longer to heal 1k hp than another blast finishes you off. so no point trying to win by healing and slowly dpsing , you just cant heal that much , and even if you could you wouldnt have time to actually kill whatevers hitting you.

    well yes but i,m not taliing about fire specifically. it makes no diffrence. plus i always have a 1050 fire resist ring on to counter the vamp thing. even at that it can be frost or lightning.. makes no diffrence

    i,m beginning to wonder if half the stuff in game stat wise actually works. it's only coming to light now as large numbers of folk hit vet mode and start to feel the numbers don't add up. nobody bothered to parse things etc in normal mode cos it felt reasonable , the amount of damage you could take versus the amount you could put out. so if a few skills wern't working as intended or passives were doing nothing it wasn't critical... where as now in vet mode. i damn well want everything ive spend points in to work as intended if they are gonna make mobs be balanced that servere.. thats only fair. but throwing us at mobs that can do that much magic damage even while your at the soft cap for resist seems wrong or broken.
