Stolen Godslayer

First time clear of Sunspire HM, 36/36, but 1 minute 34 seconds too late.

Right after Yolna, before getting to the first mobs after the boss fight our healer's game crashed, and she had to reload. She did not die or anything, just was kicked out. It took us about 4 minutes before we could continue. 4 minutes we were just standing still waiting for one of our members to get back to us. And then to be 1 minutes 34 seconds too late...

Dear Zos, this is beyond being cruel! We are not scorepushers, just normal players trying their best! It took me years of getting [somewhat] gud since the trial came out, and finally I thought we got it! Final reward for having countless hours spent on it. Only to realize a few seconds later that nope, we have not.

Looking at the logs and nearly crying.
Sorry for sharing this (at the end, we are not the first, neither we are the last, unfortunately), but I just need to hear a few supporting words, to find motivation to stand and continue after this.

I hope to one day be good enough to even get close to what you show there.

This may not help much now, but when you go forward for another attempt remember, you all CAN get it.
Ignoring the time-penalty you technically DID!

It is no fault of anyone in your group, not even your healer who unfortunately crashed.

You finished 1:34 over time, but you said you had to take 4 minutes waiting to resume...

You absolutely CAN earn that achievement, you're already there B)
Best wishes on your next run! <3

Unfortunately, this is the case. One healer should be enough for trash. That said, if you got it this time, you can get it again. You may not have the in-game achievement, but honorarily I’d still call you a godslayer. No deaths on first time HM is insane, even better than getting the achievement in-game.

The healer would have missed out on GS and the HM achievements due to the crash anyhow, right?

I would have felt terrible if I had gotten my GS without a core member of the group. When we got to resets, we reset immediately if anyone crashed.

Not if they loaded back in before you pulled the last boss.

you've done it once, you can do it again.
it was your skill that made it possible, and that hasn't vanished because of the crash.
    just keep at it.

Great effort, and my sympathies for the DC. That really sucks, but it's not wasted time - it's proof that if you guys can stay in the game, you can achieve your goal. Take a break, and when the disappointment wears off, try again.

So a player can leave the instance for trash and still get a tri? Interesting.

I hope you get it on your next run, so you can get the gorgeous Sunspire mount. It's my favorite mount. It looks great even standing behind you at the character select screen, especially now with the Gold Road theme.

Interesting indeed. I would've thought that got patched when ZOS removed PTE.

First of all, thank you all for supporting words! Now, a few days later it is a bit easier to accept, and I am again looking forward to playing again ;-). Thank you!

Yes, this is something we realized only later. It is hard to make a right decision on the spot. I think we could have survived it with an extra barrier from the tank, while the healer was running towards us. Once she logged it we could have continued, and - from what we were told - she would have got it too.

... One healer should be enough for trash.

Yes, we should have, but, I guess, we were just a bit panicking what to do.

HM is obviously not the first time, it is the first no-death HM. Sorry for not making it clear. I think I have 24 (or 25) Pristine Dragon Heartscales in my bank by now (collecting them for no reason). It was a long path ;-).

Yes, this is what we were afraid of. We should have just reset right away or continue once she logged in. Easy to do once you're not under pressure ;-))), but we know what to do if we experience something similar again.

Either way, tonight is a new attempt, we will see how it goes.

Is the conversations also ticking down the time? I known the Khajiit do have 2 conversations during the entry to the last boss.

Yes, the timer is ticking non-stop once you're inside.

Quick update: tonight it did not work, but we got 36/36 to the last boss once, and then something has happened once we were in a portal. The rest was not so good, but at least we moved on. Thank you all again!

If you can do it then, you can do it again. Most groups spend weeks (used to be months) before getting it.

You can no longer PTE while in combat, though. You originally could, then they removed that functionality, then they reinstated it after feedback, and then they removed it again with no comment.

ETA: They flip-flopped yet again, though I don't recall seeing any comment to that effect. Thanks to tomofhyrule for the update and correction!

No, it's back again, at least for now. We used it several times yesterday on our trifecta prog.

Though I'd love if they just went and put the IA reset hourglass in all the other content. It'd make it even easier to reset the instance to retry.

    Yes, that would be great!

Thank you for letting me know PTE in combat is back again. It would also be great if they could keep us apprised of these changes. Last time we were on resets we didn’t have it. It’s gotten tiresome trying to keep track of undocumented changes.

PTE is very useful for resets, and I’m glad if it’s back. But it’s also the case, no matter the implementation, that if you leave for the trash you are not actually qualifying for the achievement, which clearly says you defeated “all hostile followers.” I’m not sure how they enforce that while also enabling PTE (in combat and outside it), but disabling PTE didn’t feel worth it. So maybe they’re letting this loophole exist unless and until they can find a better solution.

Very frustrating when it looks like you would have gotten it if the game had not bugged out on you. It was not your fault.

I hope you are able to succeed in your next attempt. It sucks to have to do that, but as others said if you got that close before you have the ability to do it again.
