Is there an "immersive" way to naturally travel to Southern Elsweyr?

Other than using a wayshrine, I mean. So far it seems most other zones I can connect to using existing roads (i.e. I can get to Northern Elsweyr from Reaper's March or Grahtwood).

It's not a game breaker or anything, but I like to imagine that my character actually travels to the locations I first visit rather than just clicking a stupid wayshrine marker and magically teleporting there.

(Seriously the prologue quest chain for this zone was awful for this, constantly just clicking on a horse and being instantly teleported 4,000 km to the other side of Tamriel just feels terrible!)

The only way to get to Southern Elsweyr besides using a wayshrine or teleporting to a home there is to travel by boat. That's about the same kind of "click here and then suddenly you find yourself far away" fast travel that you disliked those mounts for, but it's the only "natural" option available for traveling to certain locations. For instance, if you want to travel to Auridon or Summerset from mainland Tamriel in an immersive "natural" way, you're going to have to take a boat.

    Where is the boat?

NVM found it in Elden Root.

Yeah, I just found it, too-- a cart that presumably takes you to a boat that takes you to Senchal. It looks like each of the three alliance capitals have transportation to Senchal, but I don't know which of the other zones can also get you there.

    Yes. I've ridden from:
Bal Foyen via Stonefalls and The Rift to Eastmarch and
Bal Foyen via Stonefalls and Deshaan to Shadowfen

If you're farming along the way, it makes a pleasant change.

If you got the new Alik'r house, you should be able to walk from Sentinel to Daggerfall now.

There is also a caravan to S Elsweyr in Rimmen/N Elsweyr.

So you can overland walk/ride to Rimmen, then have to take a caravan.

One of the things I liked about EQ was taking the boat and enjoying the scenery.

It is only in the last couple of years that the Alliance territories got linked by road. They all bordered on Cyrodiil, but you couldn’t enter that area.

Then Elsweyr and Blackwood connected AD to EP zones, and now the new West Weald zone will link AD to DC via Craglorn.

I am assuming there will be a Whiterun zone to link the halves of Skyrim, before long. That gap was the largest, and needed the Greymoor chapter zones to get half way.

Southern Elsweyr is a bit of a mystery. Leaving room for another zone makes some sense, but not linking it to the Northern part at all is weird.

while the new house doorway in both zones, if you enter the house from the alikr side, it will only give you an exit option back to alikr, and vice versa if coming from bangkorai

That's what I thought too. But that was only in the preview house. I just entered the house from the Alik'r side (not porting INTO the house, just porting outside it and then walking in the door), ran across to the Bangkorai door, and exited into Bangkorai, near Hallin's Stand and Twin Arches.

Is there any reason (lore-wise) for Elsweyr being separated?

    Hard to say.
    Lore changes, retcons happen.
The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.

    No.

You could ask the same question about Blacklight or Port Telvannis.

Actually, Northern Elsweyr does connect to three adjacent zones:

    - The road in southwest Northern Elsweyr near the Valenwood Border Artisan Camp connects to northeast Grahtwood near Cormount.

    - The road in north Northern Elsweyr near Riverhold connects to northeast Reapers March near Fort Sphinxmoth.

    - The road in northeast Northern Elsweyr near Rimmen connects to west Blackwood near Borderwatch.

As for Southern Elsweyr, it isn't adjacent to any other zones which are currently in the game, hence it's reachable only by boat, wayshrine, or porting to a house.
