If I'm late to the party, I apologize. Been doing more housing and wanted to make a loft in my Golden Gryphon Garret. Found out pretty quickly that there are no real options for stairways. They are either huge, as they are meant for outdoor use or castle building, or too short. Ended up piecing together a Markath narrow staircase and a Leyawiin for the landing and turn, both of which are mostly shoved through the wall.

Is it really too much to ask for to get a narrow set of wooden stairs that already exist in houses like Ravenhurst, or Sleek Creek, or Cliffshade? Seems bonkers that these are not available

I agree we need more wooden stairs. In the meantime, did you try the Leyawiin Stairway, Wooden?

Not stairs but something I have used a lot is the Murkmire Ramp, Marshwood, it needs to have enough angle when placed so it can be walked up but works well for access to player built extra floors.

In the meantime you can build some in wood by using the Breton Shelf, Long

at 1.14 and 1.49 you can see i did some wooden stairs to access higher platforms

You can also do those very short to allow some stairs just on ground

You can sink the stairway below ground level and only use as much of the stair as you need. The Leyawiin wooden stairway is great for that. If it's too wide, you can also sink it into the wall so that it looks like the risers are mounted into the exterior wall.

And if you're not opposed to ramps, any some small flat structures, like walls, can be used in the same way.

Agreed, I ended up liking the look of the two I chose better as the Markath one has a landing on top.

@Lauranae that is very impressive, and was considering doing something similar though not as stylish.

@DenverRalphy that's pretty much what I did with the pair. Pushed the Markath and Leyawiin through the walls, and had to float the Markath stairs about a meter off the floor so the treads lined up with everything. Covered the gap with a bar/counter so you can't see it.

Appreciate all the suggestions, I still can't figure out why we can't get plans for items that have been in the game much, much longer than these plans. The stairs in Ravenhurst would almost be perfect

I also wish for a spiral tower staircase like the Mages Guild has in High Isle.

I still wonder why they don't release more pieces from older styles. Like now with the free Redguard house, some themed structural pieces would be great.

    Speaking of the freebie...

What they show as a circular seat in one of those promo images for it stacks nicely to create a close to circular tower.

It's a bit tight to live in IMO. I bought the recipe and tested it. But there might be some decently size boards which could be used to create a staircase inside it.

Of course, at fabulous slot expense.

There are so many nice wooden stairs everywhere of various styles and we only have two of limited use.

One I really want is a really simple wooden one that is mostly just steps without anything else, like the Leyawiin one, but one that is narrow. Don't get why they don't make narrow versions of every stairs. A lot of times we can't clip them into walls.

I spent a few hours today creating a stone stairway in a bosmer house. Because I wanted to stick to bosmer materials, I used lots of 'wood elf pedestal, engraved', but it was a nightmare to get them aligned properly so that my character could walk all the way up the stairway without getting stuck.

Not that I'm really expecting any bosmer stairway to be added to the game any time soon: it doesn't really fit in with the bosmer culture, but I needed a stairway in this particular case.

Bosmer stair would be ramps and walkways like we see connect the different floors of pods in their cities.

I actually think that we have a lot of nice options for stairs, all different sizes, different stones/colors, wooden, large, small... And finally we got also the spiral staircase

Clearly the local municipalities can't agree on the proper building codes for stairs and this is only complicated by the hoas in the areas where players intend to use them. Sorry folks but until those two groups reach a consensus we are out of luck!

I also want more narrow stairs but not just wooden. Stone and tile, too. As it is now almost all of them are very wide.

I'd also like shorter and taller staircases, and curved staircases.

And some free floating stairs that don't have any structures beneath them.. just steps.

For sure, we need more options for stairs. We need, as noted by op, a narrow set of wooden stairs and, additionally, a narrow set of wooden stairs with a 90 degree turn halfway up and please include a landing.

There are no narrow wooden stairs, and only one stone one. More would definitely be good of longer and shorter length. Also curved ones that got the same degree of curve as the walls.

Yeah there are certainly some stairs and sometimes they allow you to do what you want / need.

But eg. with Sword-Singer's Redoubt, having decided to try to make all the rotten wood disappear to glam it up, narrow staircase options were severely limited.

I think it was Markarth and Fargrave. The former is too narrow and the latter very short so it would have required multiple of each to make them work. In some places lots. The Markarth narrow platform might have fit but style wise clashed with other necessary pieces.

The only perfect fit for width and too long but that would have been ok because excess could have been sunk into the floor was the crown store only Deadlands tower stairs. Partly because I wanted to show others what could be done with that beautiful free home and without the need to spend any real world money, I passed on that.

So the very short length Necrom stairs is what I was left with. I made it work but had to block out sizeable sections of beautiful crystal for the extreme width of those stairs.

Stairs of all types would be wonderful. One thing I'd LOVE though are ladders and ropes we can actually climb. Like see our character climbing up them. This is possible in other games, I have no idea how hard it would be to code but, well, yeah other games do it.
