potions for profit

So I'm wondering if it's worth it to sell potions for profit, and what potions sell the best.
i looked up the ingredients for essence of health, and the ingredients needed to make the potions are expensive on guild traders, and the potions sold are cheaper in the long run than buying the ingredients.

so I'm wondering what potions i should be trying to sell. and if i should try and just farm the ingredients. I just don't know how long its going to take to farm 200 of each of 3 ingredients.

You don't need 200 of each ingredient to make a stack of 200, you only need 50 if your alchemy skill line's 'chemistry' skill is leveled up.

There is very little profit margin in selling potions. I used to sell stacks of Mythic Aetherial Ambrosia a few years ago for nice profit, but now, with all of the XP scrolls being given out and the fact that people no longer need to make new toons for different roles they just dont sell as well. Folks can just repec at their armory stations instead of creating new toons to level up.

ive always gotten better results selling the mats directly instead of pre-crafting stuff

the only way you will get OK deals on pre-crafting stuff is if your doing a crafting service and someone asks you to craft them items and then tips you for the work (or you charge them based on mat costs, if they are not providing their own mats)

so i generally find it easier to sell the mats directly (alchemy mats sell fairly quickly and are high value)

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

Unfortunately, Alchemy is one of those crafting skills that most players level whether they're a crafter or not. Provisioning and Alchemy have passives that provide bonuses if you consume them. So if the majority of players already level them for those passives, they would sooner just craft it themselves.

Fortunately, that same majority of players that aren't crafters are often too lazy to harvest the mats themselves, so you can sell the mats and make more than you would have from selling the pots themselves (as evidenced by the constant reappearance of "Columbine Costs Too Much" posts).

Essence of Health is always popular, especially the one made using Columbine which gives a longer time period.

To be cost effective, you need to harvest your own mats (free). Once you decide to buy mats, you'll need to have the passive that gives 4 items as the output, otherwise you might not break even.

They are useful for quick sales to meet your Guild requirements, so costs might not be an issue if that's your goal.
