2024 the year of Battleground events

I assume at least 80% of ESO community enjoy A LOT doing battleground stuff, and not regions weekend events or DLCs revisiting events for a week.

Or double XP events instead. Oh, well.

?? People wanted more pvp events, so Zos does weekend battleground events, people still aren't happy.

As a pve main, mostly retired from pvp, I'd say more pvp events are needed, the game has way more double xp events.

People aren't happy with the Battlegrounds weekends because they actively highlight all the balance problems with the gamemodes that have never been addressed.

I think battlegrounds are awful:

No choice in which type
Way too long res times (I've seen up to 20 seconds)
Character bound motif/style sheet drops
Sometimes have only 3 to a group
No choice for CP/No-cp like other PVP areas

I go to battleground just to test builds...and that's it.

Well this and most people who actually play Battlegrounds don’t want to be trapped in one specific OBJ for an entire weekend.

Back in the early days of Xbox 360, if you’ve played Halo 3, every weekend they would put on a unique x2 XP fun game mode to play all weekend that was an option.

There are so many different unique modes that would be great in ESO. Imagine a Free-for-All weekend, with several modes catering to it, like Deathmatch, a Survival mode where you have one life, a Juggernaut mode where one player has emperor buffs and tries to kill as many other players as possible before dying to whoever usurps them, imagine Horse Racing? What if all of those modes have a chance during that weekend?

What if the following weekend it was two teams instead of three with fun game modes for those aswell?

Battlegrounds events would be so popular!

Id just like to queue for deathmatch again. I dont want all the minigames. that said, with the minigame specific BG weekends, part of the issue then becomes teams built to only do the objective, not pvp (ie: enemy team is 4 block tanks) which pretty much siphons the fun out of it (arguably from all sides). Ive stopped participating when it isnt deathmatch weekends, because too often its just blocktank/healbots stacked in a corner avoiding pvp at all costs.

This is basically what I was getting at - the vast majority of people that don't like the OBJ modes would have no issue with them if they were actually balanced to encourage PvP.

As is, you can win without ever even dealing or healing any damage. In fact, in many of the modes, the most optimal strategy involves completely avoiding encounters/combat.

Objective based PvP has been around for decades. It's not like you can't have engaging objective based game modes. The ones that exist in BGs are just god-awful.

The problem with a Domination weekend is that about 80% of the random BGs I queue for seem to be flag games anyway. I'm sick to death of flag games. I want some Death Match.

I always used to do a lot of BGs levelling new characters, but the most recent was horrible. I got ONE Death Match pre 50 at level 40-something.

There's clearly something very broken with the weighting.

BG weekend is like 4 days.

We literally just had almost an entire MONTH of double XP between Jesters Festival and Anniversary Jubilee.

This. Generic double AP for all PVP gamemodes would be great. It doesn't have to include additional rewards like Whitestrakes. Just the AP is enough. I'd be stoked for a weekend event like this.

+ 25% ap is nothing, also domination is the most boring battleground mode. Just a reason to avoid battlegrounds entirely.

-4 days out of a month (not much at all when pve events take up 50+ percent of the month)
-25 percent bonus AP (laughable)
-can't choose your preferred game mode
-objective modes don't work with 3 teams unless there are fewer objectives to fight over (look at ANY other pvp game, 2 teams for objective modes)
