Can you actually make a One Bar Necro that works?

I have a Necro as my main who is a Master Crafter and I mostly do the story plus solo undaunted dungeon runs. I used to group up but people are so ... well ... lets not go there. I used to run a Stamcro with a 2h that was just okay but I find my Arcanist is so much better with half the effort. Blast Bones is supposed to be the big hitter but the cast-to-use time feels wonky. The Magcro has Grave Lords Sacrifice but you can only use it after you attack. I still haven't figured out why I can't buff with it from the start but it is what it is. I have access to Oakensoul, golden gear, and many decent sets but for some reason I can't find a combo of sets and skills get a One Bar Necro build to work without standing on my head and playing the piano upside down.

As any player knows, getting a good rotation against a target is much easier than in a setting.like a dungeon, where you just can't stand there playing the timer game. So ... is there a way to create a Necro One Bar build that isn't frustrating and is actually fun? I must be missing out on something here. I've put a lot of time in my Necro and turning him into a crafter only char feels wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

One bar for necromancer is a must especially when don't have all the specific debuff and buff that all other classes have and second I am still working on it but first main sets I'm working on and to get is maarselok monster sets and second I can say oakfather or Kvatch Gladiator which I never try before and second 4 piece set can be diamond victory, night mother or other that can increase damage but keep sure you have light, medium and heavy but weapon choice is hard, fire staff or two handler.

oakensoul works pretty good on necromancer to fill in the buffs better

this works pretty good as a tank as its less micromanagy, or decent as a DPS with a HA build (blastbones weaves really well with a heavy attack)

if you want to go with dps:

would recommend the skills blastbones, wall of elements, the skeletal mage, necrotic potency, and 1 other skill that can be a burst heal

ulti you could go with dawnbreaker to further help build ulti (fighters guild passives paired with necrotic potency), or colossus for the debuffs, or the mass rez depending on what you are trying to aim for

armor wise you would just use the standard HA build setup (sergeant + oakensoul + another set)

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

Thank you. I love 2h because I think Stampede and Carve are exceptional skills that blend well together. Stampede has the benefit of jumping around when MOB's are spread out and the AOE damage is great. I assume Stampede is an AOE and not a DOT. In the past. I've used Hexos Ward with Orders Wraith but if II keep Carve and it's damage shield instead of replacing it with another ability, Hexos can be replaced with another damage set like Deadly Strike or Mothers Sorrow.

My major hold up I think, is Blast Bones. In all of these years, I still can't get around the cast time delay, esp when the initial target dies before it goes off. Yes, it will attack another one but it's more of a crap shoot on which target that will be. I also think Detonating Siphon is a DOT ... " Violently drain the last spark of life from a corpse, dealing 4624 Disease Damage over 20 seconds to all enemies around the corpse and between you and the corps". So maybe I can trade out Boneyard with Siphon to take advantage of the Deadly strike set which should also help Carve. Something I need to play with. Once again, thank you for jogging the brain pan.

I have a HA build right using Sergeants and Noble Duelist but with different skills than what you have. I'll try out your skill selection and see what I get. What I'm using now works but it's really wonky. When I say "wonky" I'm saying the timing and ability to change the rotation on the fly feels awkward and slow. I'm using the Grave Lords sacrifice instead of Blastbones". Maybe Blastbones would be a better fit. Thank you!

lightning staff is usually the preferred weapon for HA build because it has 3 hits all boosted by the HA sets

blastbones weaves well with HA because you cast BB, and then while its "forming" you start your heavy attack

BB takes 2.5 sec to form and usually just under 3 sec to impact the target in most cases, and a heavy attack has a cast time of 2.1 seconds

so the general attack chain with this would be wall of elements->BB->HA, i would use unstable wall so you can just recast it to maintain the rotation, you wont really lose dmg because of the burst from unstable wall, then you get the burst of both the HA and BB

because your getting all your buffs from oaken you wont have to worry about upkeep on anything else, and if you wanted a little extra dmg you could also use the skeletal mage, and alternate the unstable wall with the skeletal mage in your attack chain

if you dont like skeletal mage, you could use the detonating siphon tether skill, since your already casting BB consistently in this rotation

Finally something that works well, even though I'm not quite done with it yet. I ran the Undaunted Pledge
for Elden Hollow and cruised through it posting great damage numbers. Better in fact, than my Arcanist. Just heavy attack and refresh Wall, Blastbones and Hungry Scythe as needed.

HA Necro. Sergeants Mail and Noble Duelist. Oakensoul with Bloodthirsty. Everything Divines with Precise on the Lightning Staff plus a Flame Enchant. Clockwork Citrus Filet and a Tri-Stat Potion.

Blastbones, Hungry Scythe, Unstable Wall of Storms. Resolving Vigor for a burst heal. Glacial Colossus Ultimate. I have Spirit Guardian but only ran it a few times. Any damage I take can easily be healed with Hungry Scythe which has a nice HOT on top of the instant heal. This means I have an open slot I can play with. Maybe a DPS skill. Maybe a Debuff. Lots to play with here.

My Necro lives! Appreciate all the help.

So no disease build? Also will it work on pvp too?

Do an Oakensoul build. I use Sergeant’s Mail and Orders wrath crafted set. Plus, one piece of Slimecraw for extra crit. Sure, there are more meta-setups, but this gets the job done without having to worry about maintaining certain sets and their conditions.

Glacial Colossus is the ultimate; there are better ultimate’s, but it’s still respectable and fits the theme nicely. Unnerving Boneyard for the major breech. On some world bosses, I will switch this out for elemental susceptibility in Destruction staff skill line. Blighted Blastbones which work well with Heavy attack builds. I used to use Grave Lord's Sacrifice but we all know what happened to that skill. Spirit Guardian for the healing and 10% damage reduction. Intensive Mender is more healing, but you have to cast it twice as often. Generally, I find the extra healing is not needed; more on that later. Necrotic Potency for the extra ultimate mainly but the damage reduction and extra healing are also nice. 5th is the flex spot. Usually, use the Unstable Wall of Elements here. On a few select world boss when I solo them I will use Enduring Undeath for the extra healing to help keep me and my companion tank alive. Such as The Shattered Xanmeer in Blackwood.

Not meta for sure or top-reaching DPS, but gets the job done in all content except HM trials score runs.

    Stay safe :)

Speaking of Scythe -- recall that off-balance is a huge damage boost to HAs.

    glad your enjoying it lol

scythe is a good choice, since you need to be in melee range for noble duelist anyway, and it applies off balance

vigor is a good supplemental heal over time, though if you wanted a burst heal i would go with resistent flesh, the necro one which does a huge burst heal along with granting the target resistances equal to the heal lol

i would still suggest necrotic potency, as that is 3% dmg reduction for slotting it, plus the great ultimate generation, which would fill that open skill slot you have

Ruinous Scythe is better because of off balance and bleed and do more damage and is spam than hungry, if hungry was a 1 second healing for 6 seconds, it would be better or increased healing.

Just thought I would update. First I want to thank everyone for helping me revive my Necro. It's fun playing again. I tried all of the suggestions here and you guys are really good at this. I tried different skills, morphs, sets etc and I've landed on this particular combo which matches my play-style and gives me more damage and survivability than I thought it would. It took some time and I ran a lot of dungeons over and over again to test things out. If I ever see Fungal Grotto, Selene's and The Crucible again it will be too soon. I choose these because this combo gives different conditions for testing and of course, some world bosses had to be sacrificed for the greater good.

HA Necro. Lightning Staff with Flame enchant. 5 Piece Sergeants.5 piece Noble Duelist (though Deadly Strike was close). 1 piece Slimecraw and Oakensoul with Bloodthirsty. Everything was golded out and set with Divines. Clockwork Citrus Filet.

Dampen Magic for an emergency shield. There were a couple of fights in Selene's and a few world bosses where I needed this. Blastbones which does sync well with heavy attacks. Hungry Scythe gives me a great HOT and while Ruinous Scythe is more damage and has that off balance with it's bleed, I really needed that HOT + Damage more than pure damage. I chose Unstable Wall since it procs off balance. I really like Boneyard and that breach but having to stop HA just to lay down the circle throws my timing off. Wall just lays down without the delay. I kept resolving vigor though I rarely had to use it but as suggested above, I may play with Resistant Flesh for the theme if for nothing else.

While I have a Magplar and Arcanist which do good damage, they come in a little short in comparison to this Necro. It may be because of how I play them in situations that attack dummies can't duplicate but regardless I'm good to go. To everyone who helped me, again I thank you.

you could probably switch out boneyard for elemental susceptibility for the breach, its quicker to apply, though it is only single target, but it lasts 30 seconds and dont have to worry about enemies walking out of the aoe, as well as adding burning, chilled, and concussed status effects

this would allow you to slot something else on your weapon to get additional status effect proc (such as poison for that dot)

Yes it works. Try this setup. Stromfist medium head and shoulders, sergeant jewels and big pieces + 2 pieces trainee light preferably small armor pieces
Maelstrom light staff with poison/flame enchant + oakensoul .
All divines . Bloodthirsty, precise .
Lover for solo. Thief’s for group. I won’t say it’s best . I did vet dungeons solo. Also did many flawless conquerors and spirit slayers.
Just spray aoe, dots and heavy attack. Caltrops is must for solos. Wall of elements absolute must. Customize as you see fit

I run a Sergeant's + Order's Wrath onebar necro with blastbones that does fine.

I found that if you hit Ruinous Scythe while your lightning heavy attack is channeling, the scythe will hit instantly when the heavy attack ends, and the heavy attack will usually get the Off Balance bonus.

When I get bored running quest content, I slot Volcanic Rune. Blastbones -> Volcanic Rune means they get popped 10 meters into the air then slammed with a blastbones in midair lol. Very worth.
