Best class for a „Knight“ character

Before I start I want to make sure that I don’t necessarily are asking for what’s „optimal“, I know my idea is off-Meta. I would like to know which class would fit my vision of a knight best. In the moment i‘m torn between a dk and the templar.

I want to play a sword and shield knight where i‘m somewhat of an hybrid between tank and dps mainly aimed for overland content, especially world bosses. I love playing with companions and on this character I want to set them up as either healer or dps while I taunt the boss and adds. Potentially also wearing the telvanni efficiency set.

Both dk and templar have a good magicka cost spammable to make stamina sustain and blocking easier. I like the dks possibility to block cast and dot potential but also the healing potential of the templar.

Having not played both of them much it’s hard to imagine how such set up’s would feel and play, so I would be thankful for any helpful advice.

If your focus was more off tank/healer I'd go Templar, but since you want to go off tank/dps DK is the better option IMO. Yeah, Templar has an insane execute, but DK has better damaging options overall.

Templar has very good "stand your ground" tanking ability and elite healing, but the damage tapers off and there aren't as many "stacking" mechanics built into the class.

DK also has the chain which makes mob control very easy. Silver Leash is the pull option for Templar, but they are far more predicated on going after someone with the Focused Charge skill tree. Templar has always felt more like a chase class than a get over here class, if that makes sense.

It's kinda paradoxical in that DK has more maneuverability as a tank, while Templar seems to want to be stationary while tanking.

Well, both classes are good enough for this concept. Templar is good for typical paladin fantasy with light theme and some healing, but dragonknight is born tank and it's better for more grounded, tanky knight. Try just to choose which theme visually fits more your idea.
